TEACHER OF THE MONTH
CONGRATULATIONS, MS. THOMASSON!
Perseverance is the willingness and ability to keep going when things are tough. People who
persevere show steadfastness and give the extra effort needed to do something despite how hard it is or how long it takes to reach the goal.
Ms. Thomasson is the definition of perseverance. When life throws them tough things, she continues to prove that she is tougher. She pushes through and do it with humility and grace. Ms. Thomasson also looks at a difficult situation, pauses, and then comes up with a plan of attack, followed by “I can do it”. While some would shrink and crumble, she rises from the ashes like a Phoenix. There is no surprise that her favorite song is Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger”. Always remember that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

COVID UPDATES
Sent from Communications 12/31/21:
We hope you all have enjoyed the Winter Break and have been staying safe while spending time with loved ones.
As Mansfield ISD prepares to welcome back students and staff next week, please know that the safety and well-being of students, staff and families will remain a priority. The district has been closely monitoring the continuing COVID-19 pandemic and the spread of the omicron variant across North Texas.
We ask that you please review the several MISD health and safety protocols that have been in effect since the beginning of the school year to provide a safe learning environment. These health and safety protocols will remain in effect as staff return on Jan. 3 and students return on Jan. 5.
The COVID-19 advisory level system and COVID-19 dashboard page are other layers of mitigation that have been put into place for the health and safety of the community. There are also free COVID-19 testing and vaccination sites all across Tarrant County that can be utilized. (COVID-19 vaccinations are available for everyone who is age 5 or older. Booster doses are available to those who are age 16 and older.)
MISD administration is continuously monitoring and assessing the situation surrounding COVID-19 and will remain in talks with authorities and health experts. As the situation evolves, the district will continue to keep the community informed.
Thank you for your support as we work together for the safety of the Mansfield ISD community.

#WOLVESSTRONG
Mansfield ISD wants to ensure the healing process continues and that students, staff and families are able to get the assistance they need to cope with a crisis any time of the day.
Remember that Mansfield ISD’s 24/7 Student Support service is always available. It provides assistance to students for various struggles during non-school hours. There’s even additional support through a free referral service to help those with mental health or substance use issues to get matched for treatment.
Another valuable resource is Cigna’s free community resource that provides support during times of high stress and anxiety. The company has a 24-hour toll-free helpline (1-866-912-1687) to connect people directly with qualified clinicians who can provide support and guidance.
Please monitor your feelings and emotions frequently and listen to your children as well to see if they are doing okay. We are in this together, and we want to ensure no one is walking through this difficult time alone. There are free resources and professionals standing by who can listen to you and help.
We are here for you and your (our babies). Please reach out if you need assistance.
A Message About Tik Tok Challenges
Some parents may have already heard about a destructive challenge circulating on social media called “Devious Licks,” in which students nationwide participate in stealing items from school or damaging school property in various ways.
The trend has since grown into a monthly challenge that encourages students to participate in different acts of violence, forms of vandalism and/or sexually explicit activities throughout the end of the school year.
We want to make it very clear that Mansfield ISD will not tolerate this type of behavior at all. MISD is committed to maintaining a learning environment that is safe and productive, and those who are caught participating in any of these challenges on school grounds will be given the appropriate consequences, which could include criminal charges.
We ask that you please talk with your child about the dangers and consequences of participating in such challenges that break the law or go against MISD’s Student Code of Conduct. If you hear about or see any concerning incidents within Mansfield ISD schools, please contact the campus immediately to report the situation.
Thank you for your cooperation and support as we work together to keep our students and staff safe.

Integrity in Action:
- Acknowledge and affirm acts with integrity. Publicly praise students who model acts of integrity such as honesty and honor. Encourage students to identify classmates who show integrity.
- Use scenarios and role play. Challenge students with real-life scenarios and situations that allow them to reflect, discuss, and choose the best next step or action.
