Principal's Message
Wow, what a couple of weeks...
As everyone is aware, the impact from the recent surge in cases has been substantial. We want to thank our staff for their perseverance in teaching their regular classes, covering other staff member's classes, and assisting students who are absent. We also would like to thank our students and families who are extending grace and patience to everyone involved. We appreciate the collaboration and willingness by everyone to support the students!
As you go into the three-day weekend, please do whatever works best for you to be healthy, happy, and rested.
Go Bowmen!
Mr. Mitchell

What Does School Look Like If Your Student Has To Isolate/Quarantine?
Due to the rising numbers of cases in the District it is becoming increasingly difficult to connect with individual families regarding school during isolation/quarantine. In an effort to reach more families, we will be sharing information about how students can access their education during quarantine/isolation in several locations.
We know that missing any amount of school can be stressful for students and families. For the duration of quarantine your student can access their schoolwork similar to asynchronous learning from last year. Teachers will post assignments and activities to their Canvas classroom daily. Students are encouraged to reach out to their teacher via email to discuss any questions they may have regarding their work. Students will be given the same number of days they are absent to make up any missed work during their isolation/quarantine period.
Erin's Law
Due to a high number of substitutes in the building this past week, some classes will be receiving the Erin's Law lessons next Thursday and Friday (1/20-1/21). Students who have opted out will be able to go to a separate classroom during the lesson. For more information about Erin's Law and lesson overviews please see this letter.
Nutrition Services
Nutrition Services
We love to see our students enjoying their meals and appreciate your participation in our program.
Nutrition Services offers several choices, including fresh fruit and vegetables, hot and cold entrees, juice, and milk. We receive meal reimbursement when a student takes at least 3 out of 5 meal components such as a slice of pizza, salad, and milk. Meals continue to be at no cost, however, only one breakfast and one lunch meal may be taken daily.
Adjusted Bell Schedule - Longer Passing Times
Throughout the first trimester, we heard from the Sherwood High School community -- and observed first-hand -- the need for an additional minute of passing time between class periods. Our school administration took these concerns into consideration, and in collaboration with District Office administrators, are implementing this change beginning on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. This change will allow staff and students a better opportunity to tend to their personal business between class, and arrive at class prepared and on time. Please see the new bell schedule below:

Bookkeeper's Note
Student's Fee Account Showing a Refund/Credit Amount
Unfortunately, the system will not automatically let you apply the credit amount to outstanding fees. When you see new fees, please send the bookkeeper an email (ttinner@sherwood.k12.or.us) with the student's name, ID, and the fee(s) you would like to transfer the credit amount to. The bookkeeper will make a manual adjustment and notify you when the adjustment has been posted.
A refund check will be issued at the end of the student's senior year if the student's account still has a credit balance.
Thank you.
