Earning an A will not be easy. This is a weighted course which means that students will receive a 10-point GPA bump for each semester in which their grade is above 75. "Proficient" means that students have met all of the standards/goals set in class. A "proficient grade" is a B (somewhere in the range of 85). In order to receive an A on Academic Achievement grades, students must go above and beyond the class standard. Though we do have some completion Academic Practice grades where students will be able to easily earn a 100, our Academic Achievement grades are held to rubrics which will be shared with students during the instructional process.
To Kill a Mockingbird
Please note that students will have assigned reading almost every night. It is imperative that students keep up with their reading so that they can effectively engage in class discussion and close reading. We will be writing a full analysis essay over the novel.
