Welcome to Cypress
2022-2023 school year
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! My name is Evangelena Taylor, the principal of Harmony Science Academy - Cypress. I am so honored you chose our school for your child to become an Owl! We will all be learning, growing, and reflecting as we experience Cypress’s fourth school year together!
To give you some background about myself, this will be my 20th year in education. My first 11 years were spent as a primary teacher in Klein ISD, and in the following 5 years, I served as the AP of Academics at the Harmony School of Excellence in Houston.
I am originally from Los Angeles, California, and come from a family of educators. I have two wonderful daughters, who attend the Harmony School of Excellence-Houston, a very sweet Husky, and a supportive husband who loves to DJ various school events when he is not traveling for business.
In order for your children to be successful, both academically and socially, we are committed to our vision and mission and have established four character traits. We believe your children, our students, will become W.I.S.E. both inside and outside of the classroom.
The vision and mission for our campus are as follows:
Our vision is to ensure all students are both academically successful and culturally enriched.
Our mission is that we believe our students will achieve these goals by demonstrating Willing, Integrity, Sensible, and Equity.
The character traits that are expected of all Cypress Owls are the following:
Willing: to come to school ready, eager, and prepared to learn
Integrity: to have strong, moral principles
Sensible: to make choices that benefit the students, staff, and the entire Owl community
Equity: to recognize and uplift all Owls, whether it is by recognizing each other’s uniqueness or creating a bond that benefits all students, staff, and the entire Owl community

I am again grateful you have chosen for you and your child(ren) to become Cypress Owls!
Stay Safe and Healthy,
Evangelena Taylor, M.Ed.
