Attendance Counts
From Attendanceworks.com - see data below
This is interesting data! I wonder why there are more students who are chronically absent in our earliest and latest years of schooling? At our level, we know that our younger students can struggle with communicable illness, especially if this is a child's first experience in a large group setting. Perhaps this attributes for the higher percentages of chronically absent students in grades K and 1.
Importance of Assessment
Our instruction is most successful when we know what students already know and what they are struggling with during our lessons. Therefore, assessment is a critical component of the instructional cycle!

Head Lice
There are many You Tube videos that you can watch to see what live head lice and nits look like on a child's head. You can also learn how to check your child at home.
While this is not one of our favorite tasks as parents, it is much better to identify and treat the condition early as prolonged head lice can be very uncomfortable for your child, both physically and emotionally.
If you would like more information please call Mrs. Coulson, our amazing and helpful nurse.
