Welcome Back!
Dear FSS Certificated and Classified staff,

Relaxed? ✔︎
Revived? ✔︎
Ready... Or not? Here we come!
Welcome to the 2015/2016 school year!
Even though we are leaner this year, we have added new staff to fill some gaps. Please welcome:
Kitty McNeil- School Health Tech
Tiffany McMahon-5th grade teacher
James Masters-STEAM TOSA
Yvette Noll-TOSA
We hope you will find FSS your home away from home as we all have.
One of my goals this year is to spend most of our precious collaborative time on professional growth versus dumping information on staff that can be disseminated through email. This will require your involvement in making sure to actively monitor and read email correspondence as well as ask questions when you have them. Hallway Huddle 2.0!
Big Rocks:
1. Build strong student, parent and community relationships. Welcome and involve all school stakeholders in meaningful ways in schools activities and programs to encourage ownership and leadership.
2. Cultivate Leadership Development. Cultivate personal leadership in all students to prepare them for college and career.
3. Continuous Focus on Student Achievement. All students will demonstrate a year's growth in ELA, Math, and ELD by teachers collaboratively analyzing assessment data and making professional instructional decisions based on student need.
We have a population of students and families that need to be encouraged to get and stay connected. We will continue to "fill buckets" and reach out to our students and families and develop their leadership skills. We will use the tools of The Leader in Me/7 Habits and Love and Logic to build strong relationships with our school community that will empower.
As in prior years, we will infuse a college bound mindset. We can do so much to make this an overall theme for our campus and use college lingo every chance we get. From flying college flags, learning college fight songs, colors, mascot, grad year to addressing our students by their college. Let's plant that seed early.
This year we will take a close more focused look at student achievement with continual informal assessment and progress monitoring. PLC time and staff development will hone in on progress and ways to engage all students. We will deepen our knowledge of the four quadrants of Direct Interactive instruction with TOSA support.
Nydia, Nina, Mark, Harry, Martin, Allen and I are ready for your return. The custodians worked their hearts out and the campus is sparkling. We've missed you!
Here's to a great year!
Stephenie
Thoughts to ponder!
New staff shirts are coming. Nydia will take your size. We will wear them on Mondays.
Friday will be College T-shirt days. Just in case you find a new one.
