A Great First Week in 2nd Grade!

We are going to have a fantastic year together

All About our 2nd Graders

WOW! What a fantastic first week of second grade. I am so impressed with how well our class adjusted to our new daily schedule, and quickly became friendly with all of our classmates. After getting to know my second graders this week, I feel like we are going to have a great year and I feel like a very lucky teacher. They are all sweet and bright children with good hearts, a desire to learn, and eager to please. I think we are going to have a really wonderful year! I have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about the different students we have in our class. A big thank you to all of you for your patience and cooperation during this transition for FSAPS!

Our first Homework Packet

Today your child will be bringing home a temporary take-home folder filled with their first Homework Packet of the year. This homework packet contains the spelling words and Reading and Language Arts skills that we will be working on next week in class. As your child completes this homework packet throughout the week, they will be reinforcing the skills and concepts we will be working on during class time. Your child also has some Math practice from their math teacher included in their packet this week.

Once we are in the new building and we have our new school supplies, we will use the folder you have purchased as their take-home folder. Please make sure your child brings their agenda and their take-home folder with them to 2nd grade every day!

Please remember this packet will be due on Friday, August 28th. Your child will also take their first spelling and vocabulary tests that go along with the words in their homework packet on Friday morning. This will be a weekly thing for our second grade class!

Syllabus, Contact information, and Student Handbook

Many of you have already returned your documents. Thank you! If you have not, please make sure to read, sign, and return your child's syllabus, the first 3 pages signed from the student handbook, "Getting to Know You" sheet, and Important Information sheet. If you have not yet returned any of these items, please send them on Monday with your child in the take-home folder they bring home with them on this afternoon!

After School Clubs and Aftercare

Next week our After School Clubs and regular Aftercare begin. This year was a little different for choosing clubs. If your child will be staying for clubs, they will automatically be assigned their clubs each day. If your child is taking music lessons or will be doing one of the paid after school clubs, please let me know this! I will have a complete list of where students will go each afternoon, but I want to make sure your 2nd graders get to the correct place each day. If you have any questions, please send me an e-mail!

Lunch Thermos

If your child needs their lunch heated, I suggest buying a thermos to keep their lunch warm! Many parents send their child with lunches that need to be heated, and microwaves are limited. We only have lunch for 30 minutes. A thermos that keeps their food warm will ensure that your child has enough time to eat their lunch. Here is a link to get you started!

Our 2nd Grade Symbaloo

Ms. Minor and I have worked together to create a symbaloo website for our classes this year. This is a website where you can find important links your child will need this year, as well as a variety of fun websites your child can use to practice our second grade skills! Please click the link below to find our 2nd grade symbaloo!

Stay Connected with Our Class!

Homeroom is an app that allows me to share a virtual sneak peek into our days at school. I know parents love to see photos and hear about what is happening in our classrooms. I will post pictures and videos. You can like or comment on the pictures and/or save the pictures to your computer/phone! You do not have to have the app on your phone to see the pictures. when I upload new photos or information, you will be sent an email! I have just gotten started, so you will not see much yet - but throughout the year you will!

Simply click the following link to be connected! :)
