Ms. Liz's Biweekly Class Updates

For the week of 5/6

PLEASE BRING IN $5-10 (OR MORE) THIS AFTERNOON, LATEST TOMORROW (WED.) MORNING

Hi Everyone,
We did a little research and found the "Lunar Interactive Camera", from Ms. Liz's wish-list "gold" item on Amazon from $100-$130. (*If anyone is an Amazon/Prime member please let me know for free shipping). If we can all contribute a minimum of $5-10 (or more, if you can), and give it to either Jossie or Doug, at pick up this afternoon or by tomorrow morning latest, we can surprise her with the camera and maybe even have enough money left over to get her most of the items from her regular wish-list. Once we collect the money, Raquel (Deborah's mom), and Esther (Deborah's mom), have offered to go to Costco's to pick up the items. I plan to order the camera by this evening. If the camera doesn't arrive in time for Friday, my backup plan is to print out a color copy of the camera to show her we got it for her and that it's on the way. What's great about all this is that is saves you a trip to the store and Ms. Liz get's to really feel appreciated this Friday when we make her wish-list come true.

DESSERT DUE TOMORROW, WED. 5/8 AND SEE DROP-OFF UPDATE

DESSERT DROP-OFF UPDATE:
To make things a little easier for everyone, please drop off your desserts at the office, either in the morning or for pick-up, which ever is convenient for you. Please put a little note on it that says "Ms. Liz". Thank you.

I will give you an update on the photo book shortly.

REMINDER: TURN IN YOUR (2) PERMISSION SLIPS for Class trip THIS FRIDAY 5/10

This Friday, the first graders are going on a field trip to the Ballona Wetlands in Culver City! WE ARE LEAVING SCHOOL BY 8:30 AM. We are scheduled to arrive there at 10 am for outdoor lessons and activities about the wetlands habitat.

There are two waivers to be signed and returned, that you should have found in your child's homework folder this week. One from the Wetlands and a CWC permission slip. Please sign and return both, as soon as possible!

This Trimester: Native American culture

This trimester, we are combining our first TfU, "My Place in My Community," and our second unit, "Communities in the Natural World," in order to take a look at how cultural communities are formed within an environment. 1st grade will be studying Native American cultures and we have two upcoming field trips to the Ballona Wetlands and the Gene Autry Museum.

Class Pet Lizard Lizzy

Our class lizard Lizzy needs a home for the summer! There is already a full set-up and she is a super chill, low-maintenance animal.

Ms. Liz's Golden Goal

We are also continuing to work on developing our emotional vocabulary and use our words to express how we feel.
