National Merit Scholarship Finalists
Cambridge High School is proud to announce our five National Merit Finalists. Congratulations to: Kathryn Amstutz, Claire Bowman, Ashley Cotsman, Rebecca Ho, and Rachel Mason. Only 15,000 students in the United States make it to this designation. Students proceed to this level from being a semifinalist first. Semifinalists are the highest-scoring entrants on the PSAT in each state. To be considered for a National Merit Scholarship, Semifinalists must advance to Finalist standing in the competition by meeting high academic standards.
Cambridge Chorus Midwinter Concert - "Love Comes in Many Forms"
The Cambridge Chorus Midwinter Concert - Love Comes in Many Forms - is now available on YouTube and can be viewed below. This concert seeks to highlight the various types of love that exist in our worlds that stretch beyond "romantic love." You will hear songs that display love between parent to child, love for nature, love for humanity, etc.
Chorus Director Matthew Van Dyke said, "Our students worked very hard to put this program together, and I am very proud to serve as their director. And I am especially proud of their willingness to perform while consciously abiding by heightened safety protocols."
Mr. Van Dyke continued, "Although we missed our friends and families in the audience cheering on our students, the recording session had its fair share of excitement. Again, a special thanks to everyone who helped make this performance possible, including parent volunteers, teacher assistants, student helpers, and our Cambridge Administration."
Congratulations Cambridge Wrestling on a Great Season
The 2020-2021 wrestling season was historic in many ways. The Bears made history, sending 13 wrestlers to the GHSA Traditional State Championships in Macon (February 10 – 13) and sent their first girl wrestler to State. Lastly, this season was historical because this extraordinary group of athletes and coaches persevered during a national pandemic.
Best Wishes to our Competition Cheer!

Apply for HOPE Scholarship
If you have not completed the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), please do so as soon as possible. Colleges need the information to determine eligibility for grants, loans, and work-study programs. Check with the colleges your student has applied to to see the date FAFSA needs to be completed.
Although the HOPE and Zell Miller are included in the FAFSA application, Georgia Student Finance Commission suggests applying for this scholarship by completing the Georgia Student Financial Aid Application System (GSFAPPS). The deadline to apply for the HOPE/Zell Miller is the last day of school. To access GSFAPPS, an applicant must go through www.gafutures.org.
Zell Miller Applicants - Test Scores Needed
For Georgia High School graduates and home study completers (from accredited schools and programs), the Zell Miller Scholarship's initial academic requirement includes an acceptable ACT or SAT score. You can now upload SAT or ACT documents to the Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC).
To upload your SAT or ACT score report using the GAfutures' Document Upload feature:
- Print your test score report from ACT’s website or College Boards website for the SAT.
- Sign, date, and write this statement on the report: "This is a true and exact copy of the original score report."
- Sign in to your GAfutures account and select Document Upload, located on the page's left-hand side.
- Select the ACT scores or SAT scores document type based on the type of report you are uploading. (acceptable file types are: pdf, jpg, jpeg, png, bmp, gif, tiff)
- Attach your document file and select the submit button.
Georgia students can track their "My High School Hope GPA" through their GAfutures account. The site display when an acceptable test score is received. Once a document is uploaded, the average review time is seven to ten business days. Note: First-semester transcript grades will be recalculated by GSFC and available to view at the end of February.

Student Wellness Survey
The Georgia Student Health Survey, Georgia Parent Survey, and Georgia School Personnel Survey will not be administered during the 2020-21 school year. Instead, the Georgia Department of Education has developed a brief Student Wellness Survey which will be administered to middle- and high-school students. The administration window will be open from February 1, 2021, through April 2, 2021.
The Student Wellness Survey is designed to collect data on student wellness during the current school year; it is anonymous and completely voluntary and includes questions about peer and adult social support, bullying, stress, mental health, substance abuse, and suicidal ideation. The survey results will provide districts and schools with data regarding the non-academic barriers to learning being faced by their students.
