Bear Creek Elementary Mid Year Review + Q&A

This is an online event.

This will be an opportunity to hear a comprehensive mid-year report. We will touch on MAP testing, Short Cycle Assessments, and staffing for next year. I will have a formal slide deck and then save time at the end for questions.

Nominations For Salute 2022 Are Open!


Do you know someone who went above and beyond for our students and schools this year? Nominate them for the annual Salute awards!

Salute is AISD’s annual celebration to recognize some of the district’s outstanding team members for their continued dedication to student excellence and achievement in our schools.

District employees, students, families, and the community are invited to submit a nomination for a staff member they believe represents the very best of AISD in the following categories:


  • Classified Staff of the Year
  • Librarian of the Year
  • Counselor of the Year
  • Assistant Principal of the Year
  • Principal of the Year


This year's Salute will also honor the campus-selected Teachers of Promise and Teachers of the Year.

Nominations will close Friday, February 4th at 5pm.

Deadline for submitting pictures for the yearbook is 2/14!


If you would like to see your kiddo’s smiling faces in the yearbook, we need your help submitting pictures by this date. Below are detailed instructions.

Bear Creek PTA is hosting a spirit day next Friday, February 4th. We invite all Cubs to show their Bear Creek pride by wearing schools colors, shirts, or hats!

Save the Date! The Bear Creek Elementary PTA is partnering with Boosterthon again this year to raise money for our fabulous school. We will be hosting a “Cub Run” on Friday, March 11th! This will be a “fun run” to motivate kids to be active and stay healthy while supporting our school and local community. More details will be announced soon about the run!


If you have a local business, we would love to have you to participate as a sponsor of the Bear Creek Elementary Cub Run. Proceeds from the Cub Run will directly impact the 500+ students who attend Bear Creek Elementary by supporting enrichment programs, providing technology subscriptions for teachers and students, beautifying our campus, supporting teachers, and so much more!

Gorzycki Middle School PTA invites parents from all Bowie Vertical Team schools to participate in an interactive SEL workshop given by Mr. R. Keeth Matheny, a national award winning teacher, author and speaker, and also a Bowie parent. We'll be exploring such questions as "What is going on with the teenage brain?," "How can we help support students’ emotional health during COVID?," and "What does effective SEL look like in schools and in communities?"

Join the Gorzycki Band!


Are you interested in becoming a part of a great tradition and joining a close-knit community of musicians? If so, the Gorzycki Band is the place for you! Visit our website https://tigerband.org/incoming-6th-graders/ to learn all about our outstanding band program and how you can be a part of it.


No experience is needed to join! Just put band as choice number 1 on your choice sheet and attend our instrument selection event on Saturday, February 5. From there, you will be placed into a class and you will begin learning your instrument in August!

As some of you are aware we no longer have a guidance counselor here on campus. While I can arrange for coverage for significant events this is going to leave a hole for some families. Please reach out to me with your concerns and let's problem solve our way through it.
