Lincoln Middle School
Lincoln Families,
We are so excited to welcome our students back on Thursday. The Lincoln staff have been hard at work preparing for this year and are looking forward to meeting and building relationships with their new students.
Below is information about the first day of school, cell phone expectations, reporting absences, activities, and more! Please take a moment to review the information, and feel free to connect with us if you have any questions.
In partnership,
Eric Larson, Laena DiVito, and Jason Jonas
First Day Student Schedule
Cell Phones at School
For students who bring their phone to school, the expectation is that their phone is powered off and in their locker during the school day. We are continuing our theme from last year of “disengage so you can engage” across all our classrooms. Additionally, students are not permitted to wear AirPods/wireless headphones during the school day.
This continued practice aims to free the learning environment from distractions so that all our students can learn and be fully present in their classes. All the staff are committed to enforcing this rule so that students receive a consistent message from their teachers. Should students need to call home, they would be allowed to use one of the school phones and should not be calling or texting from their cell phones while at school.
As parents, you can assist us by reviewing this information with your child. We appreciate your help and support, as we want to create the best learning environment possible.

Cross Country Information
Lincoln Cross Country Website: Click Here
Start of the Season: August 21
Coaches: Steve Shaffer(sshaffer@d57.org) and Kelly Bailey (kbailey@d57.org). Our philosophy is to have “wow” moments through having fun and being part of a team while challenging yourself through the demands of cross country.
Physical: A current physical (physicals are good for 13 months) must be on file with the nurse to join cross country. (Here is a link to the Physical Form for your reference.) Please direct all questions and concerns to Lincoln's school nurse, Susan Smith (ssmith@d57.org). Please turn in your current physical no later than August 11 to start the season on August 21.
The calendar on the website gives an idea of the season, but changes are inevitable. Practices are from 3 - 4. Currently, there are ten full-team meets and two state series (sectional and state) that are limited to the varsity boys & girls groups.
Many of the team members juggle cross country with other activities/sports. Our goal is to work with team members so they can enjoy all their interests. Communication is the key to making this happen.
Feel free to contact Coaches Shaffer and Bailey with questions and concerns.
