The Week of March 8th through March 12th!
5 Days of In-Person Instruction Starts Tomorrow!
All students were informed of their cohort status last week via email. If you are unsure, please check the parent portal.
As a result of the hard work of the staff at Matawan Regional High School, social-distancing will be maintained in every classroom.
Attendance is critical to maintaining your in-person status. Students who are frequently absent will be notified that their status is in jeopardy. If there is no improvement, they will be moved to Cohort V and finish the year virtually.
Phasing-In Full Day Instruction
This will be accomplished in three phases:
Phase 1: On Monday, March 8th, select students will receive an invitation asking if they would like to participate in full-day instruction beginning the week of March 15th. This will provide us with a small sample size to iron out the mechanics of conducting lunches.
If all goes well....
Phase 2: Beginning March 22nd, we will be introducing a larger sample using a "PM Cohort Model". This means that the following groups would stay full-day beginning March 22nd:
Monday and Tuesday- Cohorts A,C,D,E, and F
Thursday and Friday- Cohorts B,C,D,E, and F
Wednesday will remain the same with only “Cohort C” staying full-day.
If all goes well....
Phase 3: Beginning April 12th, we will start full day, in-person instruction on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday for all students enrolled in Cohorts A-F. Wednesday will remain the same with Cohorts A-F in-person in the morning and Cohort C staying full day.
Kindly understand that moving forward with each phase will be contingent upon evaluating the success of the preceding phase.
Updates about the process will continue to be posted in the "Husky Weekly Update."
Underclassmen Yearbook Photo Retakes
Underclassmen yearbook photos (grades 9, 10 & 11) will be taken on Thursday, March 18th in the lower gym from 11:45am until 1:30pm.
All students must make an online appointment. All students must complete the CrisisGo certification prior to entering the building. Students will enter using the lower gymnasium entrance, (door #25), on the side of the building where the athletic fields are located.

Northeast College Fair
NJ Advance Media (NJ.com) is cohosting the Northeast College Fair from March 22 – April 11.
This FREE on demand online event will showcase approximately 50 colleges and universities across New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. Registration is now open at necollegefair.com.
While the state and the nation are slowing emerging from pandemic restrictions, there is still hesitancy to travel and some limitations for colleges to host large crowds of students for in person college fairs. This virtual event provides a convenient way for high school juniors, seniors and parents to review and sort schools by region or areas of interest and includes links to the schools' virtual tours, programs, financial aid info, admissions contacts and online applications.

COVID-19 Related Updates/Information
CrisisGo! Precertification
This is a reminder to complete the CrisiGo Pre-Visit certification each morning. It is a requirement that it be completed prior to the child arriving at school (or boarding a bus) and we request that ALL students, whether in-person or remote, complete the screening daily.
This is an important step in the process of maintaining the health and safety of all of our schools. In evaluating the the impact of COVID-19 within the community, MRHS will be able to more accurately predict the speed in which we may increase the number of days of instruction for families who elect to participate in-person.
COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT CRISISGO!:
If my child is 18, am I permitted to have them complete the pre-certification each morning?: No. The precertification must be completed by the student's parent/guardian each day.
Where do the CrisisGo! questions come from?: Please see page 21 of the "COVID-19 Public Health Recommendations for Local Health Departments for K-12 Schools".
COVID-19 Information
The New Jersey Department of Health provides a guidance document for schools (located here). The document is updated as new guidance becomes available. When this happens, we will post new updates here.
COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
What criteria is used to determine if someone is considered a "close contact?": In order to be identified as a "close contact," the individual must have been identified as being within 6 feet or more of someone with suspected or known COVID-19 for 15 cumulative minutes or more during a 24-hour period (Page 17).
Do you have questions regarding COVID-19 protocols and processes?: We are always here to help! Please send your questions to Ms. Godowski (dgodowski@marsd.org) and Mr. Eyler (aeyler@marsd.org) so we can assist.
