President's Update
Happy Monday!
Although this week is a quiet one as far as school events go, there are several dates next week to mark on your calendar. On Monday, November 13th join us at Saz's State House in Wauwatosa. Enjoy delicious sour cream and chive fries or mozzarella sticks (anything off the menu counts towards the fundraiser) between 4-8 p.m. and 15% of your total bill will be donated to McKinley. Thank you to Dana Wurzburger for Chairing all of this year's Dine Out Fundraisers!
Wednesday, November 15th from 4:30-6 p.m. is the McKinley Open House. This is a fantastic opportunity for the kids to show you where and how they spend their school days. I look forward to seeing everyone there!
Thank you to Robin Lane, Lindsay Krumsee and everyone who donated items to the Teacher Dinner last Monday night during conferences. Parent-Teacher conference days are long ones for our teachers and they very much appreciated being treated to dinner without having to leave the school.
Thank you to Sarah Dupee and Robin Lane for Chairing Keepsake Art Night last Wednesday evening. The kids enjoyed creating their masterpieces and the lucky recipients of these works of art will soon have a new memory to treasure.
Have a great week!

McKinley's Secret Holiday Workshop - Save the Date!
Get ready for the holidays with gifts for your whole family! McKinley's Secret Holiday Workshop is right around the corner! Mark your calendars for Thursday, December 7th 3:30-6:30pm in the large gym!
All items sold by our 30 plus creative vendors will be $10 or less and all hand made. Students can shop with a parent or shop secretly with a 5th grade Girl Scout. Kids can even wrap their gifts and bring everything home for the big surprise. Bring your neighbors, family and friends...everyone is welcome to shop.
Feel free to also stop at the McKinley Brownie and Girl Scout Troops bake sale and have a yummy treat or warm cup of hot chocolate! All monies raised will go towards helping a family in need over the holidays. So bring your appetite and your sweet tooth while you shop.
Also, back by popular demand will be McKinley's own Mrs. Liz Daily with her very talented orchestra students that will play some holiday tunes while you enjoy shopping for those perfect gifts! It's really a wonderful event all around.
If you happen to be feeling crafty yourself we do have a handful of tables still available! The cost for one 6-ft table to display your hand made items all for the sale of $10 or less is $10. If you are interested please email Jamie Schwake at jamieschwake@yahoo.com for further information. We are always looking for more items that might interest brothers, dads and grandpas. It is a nice way to make a little extra money before the holidays.
We look forward to another great event! Any questions or if you are interested in assisting with next years workshop as it will be Jamie's last year running the event please email Jamie Schwake at jamieschwake@yahoo.com
Happy Holidays!
Mix It Up Day Highlights
On Tuesday, October 31st the McKinley students participated in Mix It Up Day. Students were invited to mix up their location in the lunchroom during lunch. This allowed students to interact with other students who they normally wouldn’t sit with. Students sat by birthday month in order to facilitate the mixing up of students. The McKinley Messengers led discussion activities to promote healthy conversation between students. It was great to see students engaged in meaningful conversation as they were able to get to know other students here at McKinley. Go McKinley!

High Interest Day Presenters Needed!
Be a part of the best day of the year!
This year’s event will be held on Friday, April 27th, 2018. There will be three classes in the morning session (9:00 to 11:45) and two in the afternoon (1:15 to 3:00). Each class is 50 minutes in length and lunch is provided between sessions. You can present in the morning session only, the afternoon session only or all day. Several past presenters’ students have aged out of McKinley, so we’re looking for people to take over established favorites like Tasty Treats and Candy Bouquets, as well taking on new offerings. If you have a passion or talent you’d like to share with the students we’d love to hear from you. Please contact Heidi Engbring at hengbring@wi.rr.com or 414-302-1042 for more information.
