November in the Library

What's Happening?

Mrs. Wick's 1st Grade Class

Mrs. Wick's class has mastered logging onto their computers and are busy typing away. They are coming to the library weekly to use the Home Row so that they can type correctly!

Mrs. Backus's 3rd Grade Class

Mrs. Backus's third grade class is finding out Kate Middleton isn't the only awesome thing to come out of England! They have been busy doing research in the World Book Online Encyclopedia every Friday afternoon and are becoming knowledgeable about the government, the religion, and the currency of England. They will be taking their notes and writing informational pieces.

Mrs. Gerrain's 3rd Grade Class

Planning a trip to England? You might want to stop by Mrs. Gerrain's third grade classroom first to pick up an England brochure! They'll be using their knowledge about England as well as new skills of searching through World Book Kids to research different things about the country. Their final product will be a brochure created in Microsoft Publisher!

Mrs. Glebus's 4th Grade Class

Mrs. Glebus's class is learning different reading strategies and has put them to use weekly when they come to the library. They're also finishing up their Mysteries Blog. If you haven't taken a look, check it out at:

Mrs. Cyr's 4th Grade Class

Don't be surprised if one of Mrs. Cyr's fourth graders grows up to be a book reviewer for the New York Times! Their blog has more than 30 book reviews and continues to grow weekly, as do their ELA skills. To read their wonderful reviews, take a look at their blog at:

6th Grade Classes

If you could travel to any country in the world, where would you go? The 6th Graders may be able to recommend a few places, especially with all they'll be learning about different countries this month. They'll be using databases and websites to find out current events, recipes, and more about countries throughout the world.

6th Grade Elementary Tribune Staff

There's a lot of news happening here in the Elementary School and we're lucky to have the Elementary Tribune Staff to report on it. They have been meeting weekly to churn out news stories and type them up using Microsoft Publisher. If you missed their first issue, check it out below, or stop by one of the water fountains in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade hallways, where copies are hanging!
