LION ROAR
Strengthening the LVLA Community
Dear Lions,
It was wonderful to be together this morning for our first town hall. Today we focused on setting clear expectations for the year, with an emphasis on our LVLA Community Code- I respect and honor myself and my ancestors; I respect and honor my peers; I respect and honor my community. The full community code can be found on our website. Part of being a Lion is showing up to school in dress code, every day. You can review the dress code on the website as well. Our next town hall will be more interactive and fun, as we ran short on time today.
Your school IDs will be given out during Advisory next Tuesday. It will be great to see how all the photos came out. You will be able to buy school photos from a link that will be provided to you.
On Thursday and Friday, you will be with your Advisory for the day, while we use NWEA testing to get a baseline score to measure your academic growth this year. Your regular classes will not meet. Make sure that you have your Chromebook charged and ready. You will do great! Please be ready for the day and bring a book that you can read if you finish before your classmates. Your advisors will also have some word searches and other things to keep you busy if you finish early. Most students will take the whole time to do their tests.
I will be having my first coffee with the principal for our families next week. There will be a morning Cafecito at LVLA and an evening session on Zoom. The link is posted on the events calendar on the website and will be sent out to families. I’m looking forward to connecting with families to listen to your experiences of the first few weeks of school and share updates.
It is still very hot outside and wearing a mask makes us thirsty. We will not have plastic water bottles on site, so please carry a water bottle that you can refill from the water stations in classrooms. It is important to stay hydrated.
Hope that you all have a great weekend!
In community,
Ms. Silb
