RICEVILLE FACS - Human Sciences
Greetings! I have been teaching FACS (Human Services) for almost 15 years and each year there are always changes to the courses and content that I teach! The courses offered this year include ProStart 1 (culinary), ProStart 2 (culinary), Child Development 1, Child Development 2, 7th & 8th grade FACS, and Pre-Employment Strategies. My program involves hands-on learning, problem solving, and reflection. I also like to give my students choice in what they’re learning and making so they’re more invested and interested!
I am also the work-based learning coordinator which means I help students gain employability skills find a job in the community and help them tie their job to their future. Riceville offers a lot of job opportunities to students and we are starting apprenticeship programs as well! Seniors must complete a job shadow prior to graduation to help them identify their interests and strengths. I am always looking for business partnerships so please reach out if you would like to collaborate!
If you are ever wondering what a “home ec” classroom looks like these days, stop in and I’d love to show you!

Congrats to Varsity Girls Basketball Conference Champs!
With Tuesday's 45-35 win over Waterloo Christian, the Riceville girls basketball team has wrapped up its third straight undefeated Iowa Star Conference season.
This is the first time the girls have won three consecutive conference title since winning four in a row from 1981-1984.
Congratulations, Wildcats!
