Tradition?
An OV Drama Club Production
Curtains!
5 one-acts with individual and ensemble casts
This year's production includes 5 one-act performances that showcase the significant talents of our students, and some of the best dramatic literature available to us (and written by one of us!).
- Two monologues are written, directed and performed by our own Grace Lowry--they connect in ways that will give you pause and then make you laugh out loud.
- Madison Davis brings back the long-lost art of recitation with a deep-hearted telling of Robert Frost's powerful poem "Mending Wall."
- "The Lottery" is a short play based upon the chilling short story of the same name by Shirley Jackson. Even if you already know the story's outcome, it is quite another matter to see our OV students live it out in person and on stage.
- "The Cagebirds" by David Compton is one of the most compelling one-act plays we've ever seen. Eight women show us their closed world views -- with a dash of eye shadow here, a goldfish cracker there, a bit of medicine, a double dose of gossip, a poke of control, and a waterfall of fear about decision-making, and more. Then in comes The Wild One. We don't want to say more so you can experience her yourself.
A production to be remembered
In the best theatre tradition, this production does more than entertain. Our students have considered thoughtfully the words they say on stage, and have deeply inspired the audiences for whom they have already performed.
