Is your child having trouble managing their zone?
Try the 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique! You could practice this technique together at bedtime while your child is in a calm state and then remind them of the strategy when they need one.
HOW TO DO IT:
Take a deep belly breath to begin.
5 - Name 5 things that you can SEE. For example, "I see the computer", "I see the cup", or "I see the picture frame."
4 - Name 4 things you can FEEL. For example, "I feel my feet warm in my socks", "I feel the hair on the back of my neck", or "I feel the pillow I am sitting on".
3 - Name 3 things you can HEAR. For example, "I hear traffic outside", "I hear the fan blowing," or "I hear my tummy rumbling."
2 - Name 2 things you can SMELL: For example, "I smell spaghetti we had for dinner," or "I smell my clean hands."
1 - Name 1 thing you can TASTE: For example, it may be the toothpaste from brushing your teeth or something from lunch. If you can’t taste anything, then say your favorite thing to taste.
Take another deep belly breath to end.

Retirements
After many years of service these ladies will be celebrating their retirements this year. We know your kiddos have grown to love them, and so do we! We will all miss them dearly!
Angie Lloyd
Mrs. Angie's last day is Tuesday. She has been the data manager at WSES for 20 years. For many of our families, Angie was the first face that welcomed you to our school. After many welcomes, hugs and wiping tears, she looks forward to her new home in the mountains.
Anita Roberson
Mrs. Roberson has served our students as our PE teacher for 27 years. She has provided so much for our families from great field days to Jumping Joeys and a firm foundation in physical education and health for all of our kiddos. She can't wait for slow mornings and working in her garden. Her last day is June 30.
