Dolphin Splash

9.17.2021 5th Edition

Run with your Dolphin

Run with your Dolphin was a HUGE success! The school made money for the LMC, parents got to come on campus and spend some time at school, and the students were beaming! Everyone had an amazing day. Principal Rodriguez had over 10,000 steps which we thought was a lot until we learned that members of the specials team had over 20,000 steps!

A huge thank you to the ENTIRE specials team, the front office, and of course, thank you to our amazing community! Your support means the world to us!

Safety Week

All of our drills were successful and several students had the pleasure of meeting Officer Shields this week! Officer Shields is assigned to Nancy Young Elementary School and works for the Aurora Police Department. If you see Officer Shields around the school or during arrival and dismissal, please be sure to wave hello!

Update from the nurse's office

If you are able to send your child in with an extra mask, it would be greatly appreciated. Masks often get lost or dirty and we are going through our reserves very quickly.

Positive cases of COVID-19 each school in Indian Prairie 204 can be found on the District's COVID Dashboard. The information is updated each Monday by 4 pm. If your child is in close contact with someone who tested positive, a member of the COVID-19 Response Team will notify you directly regarding the need to quarantine as a precaution.

Celebrating Birthday's in School

Children’s birthdays are recognized by their classroom teacher and by the main office on Friday morning's in the LMC.

Birthday parties are not permitted during the instructional day.

Outside food is not permitted to be brought into school and shared with students. We require that birthday celebrations are recognized through other means. Some suggestions for parents may include:

  • Small goodie bags filled with non-food novelties such as erasers, pencils, and stickers
  • Buy something for the classroom
  • Donate a book to the school library in honor of your child.

Birthday invitations can be distributed at school only if the entire class is invited to the event. We understand that this is inconvenient, however, this policy is in the best interest of our students' social emotional well being. Being the individual not invited to the party can really take a toll on an elementary aged student.

The Boundary Committee

The boundary committee will meet on Wednesday, September 22 at 6:30 pm at Still Middle School, located at 787 Meadowridge Drive, Aurora. The committee will continue evaluating various boundary adjustment scenarios. A series of community forums will be held in November to obtain feedback on boundary proposals that are yet to be created. The boundary committee meetings are open to the public for observation. To learn more about the boundary process and to review materials or watch the video from each meeting, visit 2021 Boundary Committee.
