Using an Apple ID - Required for New Mac Laptops
With each new OS come changes. Many of the apple applications you may be used to using will now need to be downloaded from the Mac App Store. iMovie, Photos, Garageband, Pages, Numbers and many more are available for free in the app store.
To do this you will be required to have an Apple ID. Those of you using iPhones or iPads probably already have your own personal iTunes account and you should feel free to continue using that.
However for those of you that do not have an existing Apple ID, you will need to set one up. This is easy to do. When setting up and Apple ID and iTunes account, they will ask for some type of payment method. For those of you confortable using a personal credit card, you can associate your card with your new account. BUT, for those of you that DO NOT want to associate a credit card, we wanted to show you how to set up an iTunes account without enrolling your personal credit card into the setup.
If you haven't created an Apple ID, follow these steps to create one and a store account at the same time, without adding a payment method:
Open iTunes from the computer Dock, then go to the iTunes Store by clicking the iTunes Store button at the top of the window.
