From Mrs. Bordelon
Hello LRE Families,
I am thrilled to be your new principal! I have received such a warm welcome from staff, students, and everyone I have met. I am glad to be back in Hamilton Southeastern Schools and genuinely feel like I have come back home.
I graduated from Purdue University with a BA in Elementary Education and Mild Disabilities. I received my MS in Educational Leadership from Indiana University. I started my teaching career in Wayne Township teaching exceptional learners. After two years I moved to HSE. I started at Hoosier Road teaching first grade and as a half day assistant principal. From there I was named the first Assistant Director of Exceptional Learners. After this I became the assistant principal at Sand Creek Intermediate and ended as principal of Cumberland Road. Next l found myself in Louisiana where I was a principal and then the K-5 ELA Academic Specialist supporting 29 schools. After almost five years down south we decided to return to Indiana. For the past five and a half years I have been in Pike Township. For five of these years I was the principal at College Park Elementary and then took over Snacks Crossing Elementary.
I am looking forward to getting to know all the LRE families and becoming a part of the community. There are many amazing things happening and currently in place at LRE. I look forward to continuing the tradition of excellence and building on the strong foundation already in place as we work to reach the next level of excellence. To do this we will need to have strong family/school relationships and work as partners in this endeavor. At the end of the day, it is all about the students and I want nothing less than the best for them. I thank you for sharing your pride and joy with me and I cannot wait to work together to help them reach their potential.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Bordelon

LRE November Book of the Month
November’s Book of the Month celebrates kindness and encourages us to find ways to show kindness to others. The Kindness Book by Todd Parr gives many examples of kindness, such as opening the door for someone to saying hello to someone new. Each classroom at Lantern Road is going to participate in a Kindness Challenge throughout the month of November. Classes will work to complete acts of kindness such as making someone laugh or giving someone a compliment. Each classroom will have a Kindness Challenge Bingo Card that can be completed throughout the month. Students are also encouraged to do an act of kindness to celebrate World Kindness Day on Sunday, November 13, 2022.

Going Places in Global Studies
Going Places in Global Studies
We have started out Mexico unit. Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade are learning about Dia de los Muertos and spent this week creating papel picado and paper marigolds.
3rd and 4th grade are working hard researching the Monarch Butterfly and putting together infomercials for the rest of the school to view.
Thank you so much for the overwhelming response to our need for yarn. We have more than enough to finish our Mexico projects and maybe even a project in the future!
Mrs. A-C will be available during Parent/Teacher conferences from 3:30-6:30pm on Wednesday, November 9th. Stop in the Global Studies room to introduce yourself, get to know the teacher or ask any questions about what we are learning!
