Red Ribbon Spirit Week October 25-29
Red Ribbon Week (RRW) is an awareness campaign in October that inspires our students to be drug free, to be smart and to be strong. This campaign is presented to the students in a fun and enthusiastic way. Our Red Ribbon Week student leaders collaborated with the middle school via zoom meeting to come up with this year’s spirit days. We hope your child will participate, and encourage RRW spirit dress up days and have a wonderful time promoting saying no to drugs and yes to a healthy lifestyle. The 2021 official theme is: Drug Free Looks Like Me!
These student leaders also counted Red Ribbon pencils for classrooms and put in teacher boxes. They will be decorating the doors by the bus entrance, main entrance, and doors by the 4th/5th grade hallway and next Monday, Wednesday and Friday our RRW leaders will be on the front sidewalk, during car rider arrival, holding up their self-created RRW signs, letting our parents and families know it's RRW.
Please encourage your students to celebrate by participating in our spirit week.
Best,
Johna-Kaye Sutton

PCR-3 Community Advisory: Apply by October 29
Platte County School District recognizes the importance of community input to help set the future direction of our schools. We are launching the PCR-3 Community Advisory to gather volunteers who will have an ongoing role to review the District’s progress toward its Comprehensive Strategic Improvement Plan (CSIP) goals, as well as to provide input regarding the District's general operation and specific issues impacting education activities and programs. This group will review, discuss, monitor, and advise on a variety of topics including the academic calendar, long-range facility plan, fraud and audit, safety and security, attendance area boundaries, facility naming, technology, equity and inclusion, character education, health and wellness, and additional topics requested by the Board of Education. The group will meet quarterly, or more regularly as needed, to complete specific tasks. Any District resident, employee, or student may participate in the ongoing work of this group. PCR-3 hopes to have a full membership of 75 or more members. A PCR-3 Community Advisory Steering Committee will be composed of 8-10 District residents who represent a broad cross-section of PCR-3 parents and citizens with at least two representatives from each of PCR-3’s attendance areas. Steering Committee members will additionally meet in advance of full membership meetings. If interested in serving on this advisory as a General Member or Steering Committee Member, please complete the application linked below by October 29.
