About Mitt Romney

Willard Mitt Romney was born March 12th, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to Michigan Governor George W. Romney and Lenore LaFount Romney. Before college, Romney had received a deferment from the draft as a Mormon 'minister of religion' for the duration of his missionary work in France, which lasted 2 1/2 years. March 21, 1969, Mitt married Ann Lois Davies. Their marriage has been blessed with 5 sons and 16 grandchildren.

Mitt Romney believes in the principle of Reaganomics wherein you cut taxes which is believed to bring economic growth. He supports setting up a national catastrophe fund to ensure that people are entitled to homeowners insurance in the event of some natural disasters like hurricanes, tornadoes, etc. He perpetuates the need for becoming energy independent by making investments in alternative energy sources, reduce gas prices and reduce taxes on middle income Americans.

Health Care

Romney is a supporter of universal health care. However, he wants to delegate its implementation to state level. He is against financial penalties for those who fail to comply with mandates. And similar to the Ryan plan, Romney proposes to divert money from Medicaid and other federal source of funding to the states.

“I am a great proponent of legal immigration… Many of you are living proof of the unique strength of America that is constantly renewed by new Americans. The promise of America has brought some of the world’s best and brightest to our shores. I love immigration. I love legal immigrants coming into our country ... My guess is everybody in this room is a descendant of an immigrant or an immigrant himself. So we love immigration as Americans. Immigration brings us education, new cultures, ideas, innovative talent. It's wonderful to have legal immigration. I don't like illegal immigration."
