About the Fellowship
The New Order
The Young Order, written by Chris Weitz, tells a fantastic, realistic fiction story that would interest almost every high school student, and they should consider giving this book a read. This book tells the story of a disease that kills most of the adults in the United States. Jefferson and his team, made up of Brainbox and Donna, are trying to find the cure for this plague, so, they set off out of their camp and get to experience firsthand what it has done to the world. Along their way in New York City, the team is introduced to many interesting and dangerous teenagers just like them. Since teens are going through puberty, their proteins behave differently than an adults so they are not affected by the symptoms of the disease. The book is told from many perspectives which makes this book complex and the reader gets to know each character as if they were their childhood best friend. Any adventurer would love to read this great book. Also, if someone was looking for a good read, this book would definitely not disappoint.
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger
In The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger, by Stephen King, you follow the last gunslinger’s story. He goes from a solemn, mysterious, lonely man into a great one. This book is set in a world of magic and amazing characters, an example of this is his quest is to pursue the man in black, who brings back the dead. The beginning line “The man in black fled across the desert and the gunslinger followed.” is a great way to sum up the plot of this great story. The Gunslinger’s trek to The Dark Tower after the man in black is an amazing and fascinating one. He’s willing to sacrifice everything to catch this man. You’re only given small glimpses into his past life but these let you dissect his personality and what made him the way he is. The man in black and the gunslinger are very similar characters, coming from the same place and even sharing a culture. The man in black tries in many ways to stop the gunslinger, even setting traps in the form of people that the gunslinger meets in his pursuit. The long and complex story, along with rich back story, will make you want to engulf all the other books in the series. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait to finish the series over the summer!
