Unlike much of what we hear on news broadcasts and what we read in newspapers, most of the content that is published on the Internet is not regulated for credibility and reliability. Since almost anyone can publish anything they want on the Internet, it is important to learn how to assess resources effectively. This informative Parent University video (embedded below) provides tips on how to evaluate online resources for accuracy and quality.

Using Flipgrid in Reader's Workshop
This article highlights many ways that Flipgrid can be used to enhance the Reader's Workshop experience. Flipgrid is a *FREE* video discussion community for your classroom. Teachers post questions or add topics, then students respond with short video clips. All responses are posted to the community in a grid format. Students can then view and "like" each other's posts. Flipgrid "draws the entire class into an open discussion of divergent experience, perspective, evaluation, and debate." It is one of my all-time favorite edtech tools!
