Message from the Principal
Once again, we are very proud of our families for fully embracing this e-learning experience.
We are so impressed with the work that is being uploaded to the DoJo portfolios and it is wonderful to see everyone having so much fun whilst they are learning.
At school this week, we have been busy finalising our resource orders for next year to make our learning environment even more beautiful.
COVID-19 will not stop us from having a number of enrichment activities and we have a 'Virtual Trip' planned for each year group, look out for the Term 3 calendar which will be published this week for more details.
Stay safe everyone, Ramadan Kareem to you and your families.

FS1
This week in FS1 we have been learning about positional language to describe where something is. We had fun playing 'Simon Say's' with our favourite toys putting them on top of our heads and behind our backs. Our sound of the week this week is ‘d’, we have been practising forming the letter with our finger and using a pencil correctly to handwrite it. We have also been thinking about Ramadan and have made Moon phase spinners to monitor what the moon looks like each night.
FS2
This week in FS2 we have been very busy in Maths learning to count in 2's, 5's and 10's. Check out Noora's in FS2's video, what a super star! The children have been extremely creative at home in the way they have been learning these number sequences. In Phonics we have been learning double letter sounds and it is wonderful to see such beautiful handwriting developing in FS2! Check out the dioramas that the children have made as part of their 'Superheros' topic.
Year 1
Year 1 have been practising their handwriting this week. We have also been learning about how to use a question mark at the end of a sentence, we are so proud to see you working so carefully and neatly. Keep up the good work.
We are learning more about subtraction next week in Maths and we're using our number line to help us count back from 20-0.
We are continuing to learn about animals and their habitats. This week we have been learning about nocturnal animals. We have been researching bats, cats, owls and scorpions and we're looking forward to hearing some more interesting facts about them from you. Keep sending in your photos and videos as we have loved watching you learn!
Year 2
Year 3
This week in English, Year 3 reviewed how to punctuate sentences effectively using capital letters, full stops, question marks and exclamation marks, where appropriate. They also studied how to insert commas to separate items in lists.
This week in Maths, Year 3 studied the concept of Place Value. Identifying 100s, 10s and 1s, based on the base-ten models, and also ordering numbers from smallest to largest, and visa versa, based on their place value.
In Science, students analysed the different bones, and their scientific names, in the human skeleton, well done everyone.
Year 4
In Year 4, we are continuing to see excellent work produced and submitted to student portfolios. In English, students have been learning about the methods authors use to create suspense and tension. In Maths, the children continued to learn about statistics: they learned how to plot line graphs and analyse changes in temperature. In History, they were challenged to research facts about how the Ancient Egyptians used to live. Several students, including AlJuri and Jawaher, went above and beyond to use an information poster and a PowerPoint to present their findings! The children also made time to read a variety of books and design book covers to showcase in their Oxford Owl Reading Logs. Super job boys and girls!
Year 5
Year 5 have had another fantastic week of E-Learning. In English, some amazing sentences were produced by using alliteration for the main characters from Charlie & The Chocolate Factory. In guided reading we looked at different types of comprehension questions. In Science, we continued to learn about the life cycle of animals and humans. In Humanities, we explored the effects of litter on the environment and the harm caused to marine animals, oceans and rivers. The children did an excellent job as news reporters explaining the harmful effects of littering and how to help our marine life and oceans. Well done Year 5!
Year 6
Year 6 have been exploring the language features of mystery stories in detail during English lessons. Identifying adjectives, similes, alliteration and onomatopoeia has been a fun and colourful experience! Science revision on Electricity has been both fun, as well as beneficial, and most students have displayed an excellent recall of knowledge. In Maths, students have been revising their multiplication and division skills, including multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 & 1000.
