Pinehill School News - 30 June
30 June 2021 - Week 9, Term 2
Message from our Principal
Trees for Survival
A huge thank you to all our adult supporters, including the Rotary volunteers, and the Year 5/6 students who participated in our annual tree planting last Friday. The teamwork of all involved was phenomenal. We planted over 3000 plants, which is a Pinehill School record. Congratulations everyone!
A massive thank you to Shaun Weston and Marg Milne for all their hours of work nurturing our seedlings throughout the year and to Marg for the planning that goes into our planting day. It is a privilege for our community to be involved in such an amazing cause.
Parents
Please refer to our full school policy on ‘Visitors to the School’ when entering school grounds between 8.50am - 3 pm, including break times. Any parent, guardian, or other person wishing to enter the school grounds during school hours must follow this policy to ensure the safety of everyone.
Pinehill School expects parents to limit the disruption to teaching and learning by making contact or visits during breaks and lunchtime if possible and only if necessary.
As per our policy, visitors to the school may include parents, tradespeople, staff from support agencies, and other people on school-related business.
All parents/ visitors must record their visit in the front office on our VisTab signing-in system that will issue a visitor’s sticker that must be worn whilst on the school grounds. This includes visitors entering from Spencer Road gate.
The following guidelines ensure the safety of everyone on the school site.
All visitors to the site are asked to report to the school office and the reason for the visit.
All staff members monitor visitors to the school and report any people not wearing a visitor sticker to management or administration.
In the event of an evacuation, staff members carefully check each building to ensure that all rooms and spaces are empty, including any logged-in visitors.
Health Curriculum Survey for Parents
The survey will remain open until Wednesday 7th July and is quick and easy to complete.
If you haven’t already, we would appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback on the current health programme by clicking on the link. Click here

Matariki Morning Tea
Matariki is coming up from 19th June to 11th July. Matariki is the Maori new year. It is an important time to celebrate the earth and show respect for the land. It is about coming together, sharing stories, acknowledging the past and those who have passed away, planning for the future and feasting on the crops they have harvested.
This year we are trying out something new to celebrate Matariki. We are going to have a Matariki morning tea on Friday 9th July (last day of Term 2) from 10am - 11am. We are going to have the morning tea under our Taumaru - shade shelter over the bottom court on the field.
We would love to invite you all to join us! Everybody will need to bring a plate of breakfast/morning tea food. This might be something like croissants, yoghurt, fruit etc and everybody will be welcome to try different foods and have some morning tea.
