Member Spotlight-Holly Lacey

Here is a special message Holly has prepared for us:

I was born in San Diego but I grew up in Lodi (just south of Sacramento.) I moved back here for college at UCSD and have basically lived here ever since. My husband Matt and I met in January 2010, were married in September 2011, had Keira in November 2012 and had Tanner in May 2014. What a whirlwind 4.5 years! Just when life seemed to be settling down...Matt accepted a job with his company in Houston. We will be moving sometime in the next 3 months. So, I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone for your friendship. It took me a long time to find "mom friends" and I only wish I had found you all sooner. (I'm so glad I can tell you this here because if I tried to tell you in person I might start crying at the park.) The kids and I will still be around for at least a couple months and when we visit I will have to crash a meetup to see how fast everyone is growing up. Thanks again for the friendship, laughs and entertainment.

Recipe Time

The background of this newsletter is a reminder to get cozy. Supposedly, this is an "easy" recipe for Chai, but it sounds pretty fancy. What do you think about giving it a try?

Easy Chai Tea Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 8 cardamom seeds
  2. 8 cloves
  3. 4 black peppercorns
  4. 2 cinnamon sticks
  5. 11-inch piece fresh ginger, sliced
  6. 2 cups whole milk
  7. 4 bags black tea (such as Darjeeling)
  8. 8 teaspoons sugar or more, to taste

DIRECTIONS

  1. Place the cardamom, cloves, and peppercorns in a resealable plastic bag and crush with a heavy skillet.
  2. Place the crushed spices in a medium saucepan, along with the cinnamon sticks, ginger, milk, and 2 cups water; bring to a boil. Remove from heat, add the tea bags, cover, and let steep for 10 minutes.
  3. Strain into cups. To each cup, add 2 teaspoons sugar or more, to taste.
