Leadership for America
June 17th - 22nd
About LFA
If one seeks to lead others towards the good, both for the individual and for society, one must first strive for wisdom. Leadership for America is an annual summer series that challenges high school students to ask big questions. Each year LFA tackles a topic that is both relevant to man today, and to every man. Throughout the week the underlying principles of leadership, based on the natural law, freedom of conscience, and democratic ideals, are studied in the light of Judeo-Christian values and revealed truths.
God, Man, and the Movies: Reloaded
After the success of our first installment of this popular LFA Series, we are back with the sequel just two years later! Welcome to the LFA 2019 Series - God, Man, and the Movies: Reloaded
Who are you? Where are you going? Why bother? The same questions have been asked by humans living inside camel-skin tents in ancient Egypt, straw huts in Tibet, and suburban houses in Houston, Texas. What is it about humans that they remain “Terra Incognita” to themselves? Can we even know the truth about the human person? Aren't we just atoms in the void? Can we know the truth about God? Would it matter if we did? Why should it matter to you?
This year’s seminar will explore Christian anthropology for the answers. You will meet philosophers such as Aristotle and Aquinas, as well as great artists and filmmakers who will help you to arrive at the truth about God and man from different avenues. Discussing the most important questions about ourselves helps us all to be more fully alive! And in the end, we may discover that the truth can be known through both reason and philosophy, as well as and beauty and art. Get ready for God, Man, & the Movies: Reloaded!
