SAS 5th Grade News March 6

Where faith and learning grow hand-in-hand.

Big picture
The Catholic Christian Community of St. Anthony of Padua welcomes all to our celebration of God's love. Through prayer, education, sacraments, caring and stewardship, we strive to serve the needs of God's people and to gain a richer understanding of the gospel message of love.

In the Classroom This Week:

Religion

Thursday we will be working on Unit 3 review. Students will be reviewing how they have grown in their understanding of God's healing love. Students talked about the Sacrament of Reconciliation and how their sins are forgiven. Students will go to confession on Friday.

Language Arts

This week in Writing and Grammar students will be learning about main verbs and linking verbs. They will be able to identify the main and linking verb in a sentence. Students will also be able to identify the progressive form of a verb, which shows ongoing and continuous action.

Students took the Unit 13 Spelling Pre Test today. Students who received 100% do not need to take the test on Friday.

Math

Students are continuing Chapter 10. We have been working on adding and subtracting mixed fractions with like and unlike denominators. On Thursday students will take the practice test and the test on Friday.

Science

In Science, students will complete the Unit 4 Study Guide. We will review the Study Guide together in class and students will take the Unit 4 Assessment on March 8th.

Social Studies

Students did a great job today walking through the American Revolution. They all looked great and played their parts so well. What a fun way to reenact the lesson.

Students have chosen their state and have been given the outline of what is expected for their state report. These tri folds will be due on Wednesday, March 21. We will begin working on the tri fold Monday, March 12. Students need to bring supplies to begin assembling their tri fold. Students will be given class points on the days that they work on assembling in class.
