Quick Circulation Statistics
Books Checked out by Year:
- 2019/20 7,285
- 2018/19 10,296
- 2017/18 297
Overall, our circulation is still on the rise compared to when our school occupied shared space at the Academy @ Shawnee. We are ranked #2 in circulation among JCPS high schools which makes me so very proud!
2020/21 Goal: Circulate at least 10,300 books!
TOUGH NEWS: We currently have 1,127 books checked out of the library at a total value of $19,929.07. With Administration and Library Media Services, the library will work on a plan to recover as many of these books as possible.
Reading Champion Book Challenge
The program met with mixed success. Only 80 students completed the challenge. While I believe that this challenge was more authentic compared to last year in terms of real reading time and authentic student response, the use of a Google Form was challenging to students. I did anticipate this, but decided to utilize the form as a means to encourage students to learn the technology that they would need for success in their next comprehensive school setting.
Next year, I plan to change two things. I will offer a paper form to students in addition to the Google Form and I will introduce a teacher incentive that will encourage teachers to make time during class and in their Google Classroom environments for students to complete the challenge. Classes that reach a certain level of completion will receive a prize from the library. This prize might be a pizza or popcorn party and a movie. This incentive worked well last year in encouraging classes to meet individual goals as a learning community.
