It is that time again and we are very excited to see the return of all of our students! We had a wonderful transition with our 2021 Summer Rising Program and we are moving forward optimistically for the start of a great school year.

The Walt Disney Magnet STEAM School is prepared with our safety protocols in place and a staff ready to welcome our students back HOME! What does this mean for our students & staff?

This means that our basic safety protocols that were in place throughout the school year will still be with us:


  • Daily Health Screening Surveys
  • Masks
  • Daily Temperature checks on entry
  • Socially Distanced classrooms and shared spaces

Ms. Baker has worked to ensure that our school has been a safe learning environment for all our students and staff. She has followed the NYC DOE guidelines and has been transparent with our families keeping us informed as she becomes informed. This Parent 411 is our monthly newsletter to keep parents aware of important events and updates.

Welcome Families To The Start of the 2021 - 2022 School Year

Dear Walt Disney Magnet STEAM School Families,

I hope you are having a great summer!

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you and your children to an exciting school year. After the last year of functioning in a virtual, and then hybrid setting, we are excited to return to five full days of in-person instruction in the building.

This school year is going to be amazing as we work together to provide educational experiences for all students that are engaging, rigorous, and relevant. We know that a strong partnership between the school and families will make a great difference in the education of our children.

Due to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will continue to follow all safety protocols. This will include the requirements for all students and staff to wear masks while indoors, to social distance, and to participate in regular handwashing and the use of hand sanitizers in addition to daily health screenings and temperature checks. All visitors to our school will also be required to follow all protocols.

I am excited about all that this new school year has to offer and look forward to working collectively to ensure that the children are provided with the best educational experience possible.

I look forward to seeing you at our Homecoming Event on Wednesday, September 1st at 4:00PM outside in the large school yard.

School Uniforms- Ordering Schedule.

Our Mandatory Uniform Policy is in place for our upcoming 2021 -2022 School Year:

K - 5th Grade- Red uniform shirt ( with school logo), navy school pants/skirt, and dark shoes

Pre-K - Grey Polo shirt, navy school pants/skirt, and dark shoes.

Pre-k Parents- Our vendor is currently unable to provide grey polos with our school logo on our webstore. Parents should purchase plain grey polos to be within our uniform protocol.

Navy Uniform pants/skirts (Pre-k - 5th grade) can be purchased at the following local stores: JC Penney, Kmart, Old Navy, and Macy's

SCHOOL SCHEDULE FOR SEPTEMBER- ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL TIMES HAVE CHANGED!

Our school schedule has changed this year. Arrival for all students is 8:00 am and our dismissal time is now 2:20 pm for all students.


Arrival & Dismissal Locations-

Pre-k - Small Front School Yard

Kindergarten - 5th Grade- Large Back School Yard


The First Day Of School - Sept. 13th

Pre-k -

Students will have a staggered arrival and dismissal time for the first day of school ( see schedule below). The second day of school, Sept. 14th will be an early dismissal time of 10:50 am. and Wednesday Sept. 15th will be the first full day for all Pre-k students (8:00 am - 2:20 pm)



Kindergarten - 5th Grade- Full Day of School Starting Sept. 13th

Pre- K Staggered Schedule- Parents will be informed of their scheduled session time via email.

2021 - 2022 School Year - 7: 30 am Breakfast Program

This 2021 - 2022 school year the 7:30 am breakfast program is an option for our students. Due to the social distancing safety protocols within the school we are asking parents to register prior to the start of school. This will ensure that we have an accurate account of the number of students within the space. This registration is not limited to just the start of school. The option to register will be available for the entire school year (this is subject to change due to any changes in safety protocols within the NYC DOE).

Please note that the breakfast program is not an early drop off option. Families should be registering students with the intention of them attending to eat breakfast.
