Gifted and Talented Program

Dear CLES Families,

Welcome to our first edition of Curriculum Corner. The purpose of our monthly communication is to provide additional information and/or resources to our families. This edition of the Curriculum Corner will focus on our gifted and talented program, and also revisit some resources in the area of math that may be helpful. We hope you enjoy these monthly communications, and please share ideas for any future Curriculum Corner issues. Thank you for your continued support and collaboration!

Sincerely,

Amanda Wadsworth, Principal

&

Alayna Lynam, Assistant Principal

Gifted and Talented Parent Advisory Committee Information

What is the Gifted and Talented (G/T) Parent Advisory Committee?
The G/T Parent Advisory Committee (GTAC) is a long-standing group of Howard County
parents and community members who are interested in G/T programs offered by the
Howard County Public School System (HCPSS). This committee works with the HCPSS
G/T office, school administrators, G/T resource teachers, and other school personnel to

receive updates, ask questions, and provide feedback related to G/T programs.

See attached flier for more information.

Mathematics Resources - Reminders of resources

How do I best use the resources from HCPSS to support my child in Math?

HCPSS has two resources that are similar in content, can help you identify the standards that your child is working on, and provide resources to support practice at home. This information is also supported by your child’s math teacher when they post the standards for the month on their Canvas page.

Family and Community Resources (Links by grade level below)

The first resource is the link to the Family and Community Resources page. This page has listed what your child will learn by Quarter. The title of each of the broad concepts is at the top of each section (ex. The Number System). There are links to web based games as well as ideas for activities to do. You have to click on “What Your Child Will Learn” under each content area. Below is a visual of Math and how it is displayed.
