The Weekly Star
Montessori Academy at Onesimo Hernandez #35
Principal's Corner
In week#35, we are on the countdown--12 days left for school! That's right and we are holding strong for our families, children and each other. We do not know what next school year will look like for our children. Will we be online totally or we will utilize hybrid model going to school part of the time in combination with online learning? We do not know but what I can tell you is that our MAOH community will adapt to our time and place! We can to do this by finding solutions and going for the opportunities even though we may have to leave where we feel comfortable. "Together we can choose to be better. Like any big obstacle in our lives, this is hard. This is unprecedented. We could not have planned for this. But how can we get through this so that in 5 years we see that it was just a bump in our road or that we came out stronger in the end?" One of our teachers shared this diagram with me and I would like to share it with our MAOH family. We can choose to have a growth mind set and begin the work to prepare for a new environment that will be Montessori driven creating experiences and explorations for our children. So, I ask you the following question: Who do YOU choose to be during COVID-19?

How can we support you this summer?
Due to the continued social distancing regulations to decrease the spread of COVID-19, Readers 2 Leaders has made the difficult decision to continue offering virtual programming instead of our usual Summer Reading Camp for summer 2020. Hello Wonderful MAOH Families,
I hope you were able to participate in Virtual National Field Day last Friday May 8th. Whether you went outside or stayed indoors to do activities students should be getting 60 minutes of physical activity daily. You can split up the minutes and do different activities throughout the day to make up the whole amount. Some ideas: have students dance to their favorite song, help with sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, jog in place/jumping jacks/jump rope, watch and participate to exercise videos, walk your pet around the block, take a bike ride around the block. Physical activity will help improve thinking, reduce anxiety, and help sleep better.
