From the Principal's Desk...
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week I wanted to highlight all of the options that our students have to participate in the Fine Arts for the 2022-2023 school year. We have made a few changes to this year’s events based on the addition of the Spring Fine Arts last school year. Below you can find a breakdown of the offerings by grade that we have here at St. John the Baptist.
Kindergarten students will participate in the Kindergarten Christmas Pageant on December 20th.
Grades 1-3 - will participate in the Fine Arts Night on Tuesday, March 28th. This event was new last year and was a huge success.
Grades 4-5 - this year, we will invite our students in grades 4 and 5 to participate in the annual Christmas Concert on December 13th.
Students in grades 4-8 are eligible to participate in Beginner and Advanced Band - Students were invited to an introductory meeting last week to learn about this opportunity.
Students in grades 6-8 are eligible to participate in Performing Arts. Our fall play is in the middle of rehearsals, and our production will take place on Friday October 28th. The spring musical will be held on the weekend of April 21st.
These events allow our students to showcase their talents outside of the classroom, and I look forward to seeing our students shine.
Lastly, I would like to mention that on Thursday, September 22nd, Sgt. Hussle from the Colerain Police Department will be the guest speaker at the first PTO membership meeting of the year. Any parent who has a student with a Social Media account should consider attending this meeting to learn about how to keep your children safe.
Sincerely,
Courtney Weinheimer

St. Xavier

St. Xavier High School hosts two Xperience Nights (October 18 and 26). Your school and all 7th & 8th grade families will receive an invitation to attend.
The evening begins in our Chapel of the Holy Companions at 6:30 p.m. and concludes at 8 p.m. Parents will hear a presentation about the mission of St. Xavier from a current student, the parent of a current student, faculty member, and an admissions representative – with ample time for questions and answers afterward. Students will learn about St. X by engaging in experiential learning opportunities that will be directed by current St. X students. Your students will also have the chance to have their questions answered. Families have found these nights to be an opportunity to receive in-depth information and hear different perspectives. Parents and faculty often can give a more “on the ground” view of the school. We ask that families register in advance.
Open House
On Sunday, November 13 from 1 to 4 p.m. prospective students and families are invited to attend our annual Open House. Tours are given by current students, allowing families time to speak with teachers, co-curricular moderators, and students about their experiences.
Shadowing
Shadowing is an integral role in a student’s decision making process. The shadowing program runs from September through December and provides interested eighth grade students with a firsthand experience on campus. Prospective students will be hosted by an Ambassador of Excellence, a freshmen or sophomore qualified to speak on the various aspects of St. Xavier High School. On these days at 8:30 a.m., parents have the opportunity to tour the school and hear a presentation from a St. Xavier representative about programs, tuition assistance, scholarships, and the admissions process. Families may register for shadowing on our website at https://www.stxavier.org/admissions/visit.
HSPT Prep Course at St. Xavier High School
This HSPT course covers all 5 sections of the test: Verbal Skills, Reading, Mathematics, Quantitative Skills and Language. The course begins with a comprehensive assessment exam, and the rest of the course focuses on learning content. By program’s end, students know how to tackle every type of problem on the HSPT – and effectively manage their time and the test.
The course will be taught on October 29th and November 5th at St. Xavier High School from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm or 12:30 to 4:30 pm.
Attached below is a one-page program overview for families who may be interested. Parents can sign-up at www.RedwoodPrep.com by clicking on the 'Sign Up' button on the website.
