A Principal's Perspective
I have learned so much and have enjoyed summative meetings with staff members. It is very enlightening to receive feedback from each faculty member as we reflect not only upon this school year but our first five years as well. One comment really got me to thinking. A teacher said (I am paraphrasing) that she looks at her grade/class when the students come in at the beginning of the year as a blank canvas. What a picture she has created with her students! But not only that, she will pass this "canvas" on to the next teacher and then the next. As students leave 4th grade and GP, they will have a finished product, a complete canvas of their elementary school years. As we think about our school mission, our students' academic and social/emotional growth, and the experiences throughout the years, what will the finished canvas be for our students? What a powerful image for us to think about as we finish off this picture perfect year!
