Galveston ISD New Teacher Academy ended last week with a Capturing Kids’ Hearts training. It was a full week of learning to launch our new teachers into a spectacular school year. We are TEAM: GISD

All middle and high school students must have a district device. Please arrange to pick up a Chromebook or other digital device for your child before the first day of school.

Device distribution will take place Aug. 9-20, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the former Alamo Elementary School at 5200 Ave N ½.

Devices will only be handed out to students who have completed registration for the school year. Please bring identification indicating that you are the parent, guardian, or emergency contact listed in Skyward.

The optional accidental device protection fee is $25.

Elementary school student will pick up their devices on campus after the first day of school.

Apply for for Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) to receive help with food costs for your family. All Galveston ISD students are eligible. Applications open at yourtexasbenefits.com/Learn/PEBT (application link is case-sensitive) on June 2, 2021.

P-EBT provides food benefits to families with enrolled students (up to 21 years of age) who temporarily lost access to free or reduced-price school meals for the 2020–2021 school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. All Galveston ISD students are eligible because GISD is a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) district that offers free meals to all students. The deadline to apply is August 13, 2021
