ENJOY YOUR SUMMER!!
IXL account information for summer and next school year
This will mean that all users (Teachers & Students) from Tiogue must use their regular credentials, but sign in on the Coventry custom domain page at https://www.ixl.com/signin/coventry.
If you do not sign in using the new webpage, you will get an "expired account" message.
Finally, because all schools will have access to IXL from now on, we will only have access to the mathematics. ELA will no longer connect for us.
Thanks,
Dom
Summer Reading
June 2018
Dear Family,
Summer 2018 is here and with summer comes many opportunities for your child to enjoy reading! At Tiogue Elementary School, we are committed to promoting your child’s love of reading. This summer, Tiogue is pleased to partner with many community groups and businesses to support our students’ success.
This packet includes instructions and details for a few summer reading incentives. Also attached is the reading log for Dr. Gordon Orthodontics Summer Reading Contest. Each book your child reads can be counted for each summer reading program!!
First, all students are encouraged to participate in Coventry Public Library’s 2018 Summer Reading Program, “Libraries Rock!”. Book logs, special activities, programs and crafts will be available related to this year’s theme! This is a great way for the whole family to share the joys of reading this summer!!! (Go to www.coventrylibrary.org for more information.)
Tiogue Elementary School is pleased to participate in the 10th annual Gordon Orthodontics Summer Reading Contest. Each summer Dr. Gordon Orthodontics sponsors this school-wide incentive. The Coventry school that reads the most books per student wins $1,000 for the library or literacy program for the school. Also, the classroom with the most books per student wins a pizza party. We ask that children return all completed book logs (attached) to Tiogue School no later than Friday, September 14th!
Another opportunity is the 22nd annual Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program-The Joy of Reading. Children who read eight books and submit the completed journal to Barnes & Noble, will be able to select a book of their choice to keep. For details and student journal, visit www.barnesandnoble.com/b/summer-reading/.
Showcase Cinemas is hosting Bookworm Wednesdays. Each Wednesday throughout the summer, children who complete and submit the official book report form will receive free admission to Showcase Cinema’s Bookworm Wednesday Movie at 10am. Accompanying parents or guardians and children under six years of age receive free admission and do not need to submit a book report (for additional details visit www.showcasecinemas.com/programs/kids-and-families/bookwormwed.)
Information regarding all these programs and other learning resources are available at https://tiogueschool.squarespace.com/.
Happy reading!!
An end-of-year message from Alan Shawn Feinstein
To Our Great Leadership Schools:
If I don't get to see you before the end of the year, please tell your students and teachers how proud I am of them for all the wonderful things they have been doing to reach out to help others...
If your school is closing, please let me know where you and your students will be going so I can be sure to keep in touch with you there and so you can continue to share in our funding and other advantages.
And please tell your youngsters to wear their Junior Scholar t-shirts over the summer if they have one. If I see anyone in that shirt, I will have a special gift for their school in the fall.
My best wishes to you all. I promise you good news in the fall! It is a pleasure to know you and to share our resources with you.
Warmest Regards,
Alan Shawn Feinstein
