Language Arts
- Reading: We read a non-fiction story about women getting the vote in Wyoming in the 1870s. We talked about cause-and-effect relationships. This story fit in perfectly with our biography projects.
- Writing: We worked on writing a summary of a fiction text. We also started taking notes for our biography project. Our focus was on pulling out important information about the person's life.
- Grammar: We reviewed proverbs and adages, we also worked on using negatives in our writing. Finally we reviewed comparative and superlative adjectives.
Science and Social Studies
- Science - We learned about digitizing sound waves to send messages and communicate in different ways. We did an investigation on using sounds to send a message.
- Social Studies - This week we continued learning about government. Our focus was on the three branches of federal government. We also discussed how core democratic values limit the powers of government.
Math
This week students worked on adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators. We also took a little break from fractions to work on determining perimeter and area of a polygon.
