Principal Message

Dear Lane Families,

I hope everyone was able to stay safe this week as we experienced the extreme weather. We're looking forward to getting back into the routine of school.

We've been receiving questions regarding this week's cancellations and their impact on student instructional time. The state has requirements for the minimum amount of time school must be in session each year. Dr. Lexmond will communicate a plan in the coming days to address these requirements.

I am looking forward to some upcoming events. Please, save the date for the following.

Feb 17 - PTA Carnival

Feb 21 - Parent / Teacher conferences

Feb 26 - Preview Night for incoming 6th graders

Please make plans to join us for these exciting events. Our staff, student and parent volunteers do an amazing job preparing for these events. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone in the near future.

Have a great weekend!

News from the District Nurse

Insert to school newsletter regarding Head Lice: Within most schools at any one time, there will be a small number of children infested with head lice. Typically head lice affect the age group of 3 to 11 years. This is a reminder to check your child’s hair on a regular basis, as head lice don’t always cause an itchy scalp (head) so many people will be unaware that they are infested. Checking for head lice should be a normal part of every family’s personal hygiene routine, like brushing your teeth or washing your hair, and should be done regularly. The best proactive approach is to check your child’s head once a week. It’s important to know some basics, including how to recognize symptoms and what to do if faced with an active case of head lice. Please inform the school office if your child has head lice. Early detection and following the exact treatment instructions is key in eradicating an infestation. The nursing department is available and able to assist you, should you have questions. Flyer HERE
