I Know the Scriptures are True

We are so excited about the Primary theme this year! We know how important the scriptures are in our own lives and want to be able to share our testimony of this with the children in our stake.

The General Primary Presidency had this to say about the theme...

We know the power of the scriptures and how they will have a lifelong influence on a child’s life,” said Sister Rosemary M. Wixom, Primary general president.

Sister Wixom and her counselors in the Primary general presidency, Sister Cheryl A. Esplin and Sister Mary R. Durham, met with the Church Newsto discuss next year’s theme, which is found in 2 Nephi 4:15, “For my soul delighteth in the scriptures, and my heart pondereth them.”

“The scriptures, we know from Lehi’s dream, are the word of God,” Sister Wixom said. “When we continually hold on to the word of God, it blesses families and children.”

One of the ways the children and families are blessed, Sister Durham said, is found in 3 Nephi 22:13. “And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children.”

“With all the turmoil and confusion around [children], we hope they would go to the scriptures, look to their Savior and Father in Heaven, and find peace in their lives,” she said.

Have Courage Be Kind Faith in God Activity for Girls

Such fun with such lovely girls!

We had such a lovely time with the girls at our Stake Faith in God Activity on Saturday, January 30th. The girls arrived at 9:30 and were treated to a waffle bar for breakfast. After breakfast they rotated through 4 activities. They developed a talent through a dance class taught by Sister Danae Elton of Vista 1st ward. Sister Linda Marin worked with the girls to create a necklace that matched our theme to help girls complete another requirement under Develop Talents - make an item from wood, metal, fabric or other material, or draw, paint, or sculpt a piece of art. The girls watched a clip of the movie, Cinderella, and talked about the traits that Cinderella possessed that helped her find success and happiness in her life. Sister Mc Donald tied this in with Learning and Living the Gospel and how being courageous can help us keep the commandments. Finally, the girls brainstormed ways they can show courage and be kind and colored a page to hang at home to remind them of this each day. This completed a requirement in Serving Others - choose one quality to develop in yourself. Discuss how showing kindness strengthens you, your family and others.

We want to thank those Activity Day leaders who came and stayed with the girls and helped to make this activity a success.
