A Student’s Guide to Getting Started with Piktochart
How to Create a Piktochart Infographic Easily
Infographic: Piktochart Tutorial
Students will be given detailed directions as well as a rubric on Tuesday, April 28. The assignment will be due some time next week. I haven't picked a specific date yet because I know this task is different than anything they have done before. I want to make sure students don't feel rushed and that their infographics are both informative and visually appealing.
GREEK & LATIN ROOTS SUPERHERO PROJECT
On Monday, April 27, students will complete a Google Form with their top five choices for Greek or Latin Roots.
On Tuesday I will let students know what their assigned root is. On Tuesday and Wednesday, students will begin brainstorming ideas using the chart I have provided.
On Thursday, students will begin writing a 1-2 minute superhero speech, explaining how they got their powers and a time they saved the day with their superpowers. Students should include at least 3 words in their speech that contain their assigned root. I will provide students with a rubric to guide them. They will have additional time next week to work on this part of the project.
Later next week, students will record and submit their speeches. Students are encouraged to dress up, but don't have to. All of these directions (and more) will be clearly written out and explained to students, but I just wanted you all to get an overview of this project.
For examples, check out these photos and videos from students in years past. Can you guess which Greek or Latin Root each of them are?

FAVORITE MEMORY AT JACKSON
As you know, the end of the year is going to look a little different for our 5th graders. One thing that we want to do for them it to begin featuring their "Favorite Memory at Jackson" on the Morning News. If you could have your 5th grader video themselves telling us what their favorite memory at Jackson is and send it to me in an email to include in the morning news cast.
Please make the video no more than 20-30 seconds long. To get all kids in, they will have to be short. In the email, please give name and teacher. We'll start putting them in as soon as we start getting them. Please email videos to wtjacksonprincipal@gmail.com.
"This is Mary from Ms. Jones' class and my favorite memory of\at Jackson was the time......"
We're going to be planning a few other things for the kids also, so stay tuned.
Thanks and please know that we miss our 5th graders!!
I especially miss having lunch duty with them!
