UNA USA Campus Advocates UH Meeting

Come to the first meeting of the UNA USA Campus Advocates at UH
WHY JOIN:
- Engage in a nationwide network of UNA chapters across cities and college campuses
- Participate in seminars with world renowned speakers including diplomats and former delegates of the United Nations
- Staff and participate in various Model United Nations conferences including the Houston Area Model United Nations conference and GC Houston
- Advocate for peacekeepers in war-torn areas and have the ability to communicate messages to them
- Combat malaria and polio in developing nations by raising awareness with the UN Foundation campaign, Shot@Life
- Work with refugee children relocated to the Houston area, currently a hub for refugee resettlement
- Network with students across campaigns through socials and mixers throughout the year

- Vaccinates 58% of the world's children, saving 2.5 million lives a year
- Assists over 34 million refugees and people fleeing war, famine or persecution
- Keeps peace with 110,000 peacekeepers on 4 continents
- Fights poverty, helping 370 million rural poor achieve better lives in the last 30 years
- Protects and promotes human rights on site and through some 80 treaties/declarations
- Promotes maternal health, saving the lives of 30 million women a year
