A message from the Principal

I want to take a brief moment to congratulate all of our students that participated in the Showcase. You all did a phenomenal job. We look forward to seeing all of your learning presented at our next Showcase event!

Welcome to the new semester! We are excited about the new schedule and have heard many great reviews from families. I want to thank all of you for your patience, suggestions, and support as we try new scheduling options to best accommodate our students’ needs.

In the coming weeks/months we will be reaching out to families about many important topics including: parent support, instructional supports, fall 2016 scheduling, spring assessments, and more. Please stay tuned for further information on these topics as they are still under construction. We are also launching a new website that we are hoping will be more user friendly. You can review our new website by going to: www.threerivershomelink.com. We will be loading this onto the Richland School District website as well.

All the best,

Tyler Reeser, Principal

RSD Nutrition Services

All students registered in the Richland School District have a lunch account with a zero balance until money is added. Money can be added to each account by check or cash at Homelink, which can be left at the front desk or given to Eileen Logan in the kitchen. Money can be added online through the district website, look for the Nutrition Services tab and follow the links. We do not have family accounts so please add money to each student’s account if they will be eating lunch at Homelink. Application forms for free/reduced lunches can be found online or at the front desk. New forms must be filled out each year. The Nutrition Service office will review and input the information into the students account if they qualify. If you have questions regarding free/reduced lunches please call the Nutrition Services office directly.

Menus can be found under the Nutrition Services tab. Look for high schools and then Three Rivers Homelink.

Immunization Update

Students are required to be vaccinated and submit a completed Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS), or Certificate of Exemption (COE), before attending school. Refer to WAC 246-105-030

Tdap Vaccination for 6th-12th Graders

State law requires students in 6th through 12th grade to show proof of Tdap vaccination.

If your child already got the vaccine, then he or she will not need to get the vaccine again

New Chickenpox Vaccine Requirement for 9th - 12th grade

Starting in school year 2016-2017, all students in 9th through 12th grade are required by law to get two doses of chickenpox (or varicella) vaccine. If your student already got 2 varicella vaccines or had chickenpox, then he or she will not need to get the vaccine again.

Please do one of the following:

  • Get one or two doses of chickenpox vaccine before the start of school, OR
  • Get a blood test to check for immunity to the disease, OR
  • Get a letter or signature on the Certificate of Immunization Status from a licensed healthcare provider to verify that your student had chickenpox disease in the past, OR
  • Get a Certificate of Exemption signed by your licensed healthcare provider.

When your student gets the Tdap vaccine and/or chickenpox vaccine, please bring your shot record to the school office and/or notify the school nurse.

Secondary Information!

Hello High School @ HomeLink parents,

This e-mail is coming to you to extend a special invitation to your student for our MORP event this Friday from 8 to 11pm. You may have some questions about it, and hopefully this e-mail will answer your questions. If you read it and have more questions, please feel free to e-mail me—carolyn.sturges@rsd.edu

MORP—is prom spelled backwards, and that’s exactly what we’re planning. Yes, there will be a dance floor, but there will also be cotton candy, board games, fresh baked cookies and a group of incredibly wonderful high school kids. It will be a well chaperoned event because of our awesome volunteer/parents, and I’ve never had a problem with any of our students behaving inappropriately at our high school events. Homelink high school events have always been comfortable and lots of fun.

Does everyone have to have a date?

Nope. Most people won’t have dates. But it’s just fine to bring a date if you’d like.

Can I bring a friend who isn’t a Homelink student?

Yes. You will need to fill out a form and have your friend approved by Wednesday. The form is attached to this e-mail.

What if I don’t know how to dress “vintage”?

Check out the back of your mom’s closet. Or Value Village. You can dress up—I’m hearing rumors of some lacy dresses with heels, but I’m also hearing about some kids who are in collaboration with Grandma. It’s ok either way. I’m currently choosing between my really horrible leopard skin boots and tie dye 70’s bell bottoms, or my grandma’s crushed velvet dress. Hmmm….

I don’t take onsite classes, and I don’t know anyone there. Would it be awkward for me?

There’s a good chance you’d come away with new friends by the end of the evening. You can bring a friend (if I get the form by Wednesday) Parents are also welcome to help chaperone if I know ahead of time and we have your current volunteer paperwork on file.
