Different Types of Substitute Positions
General Education- This is a classroom that serves our largest population of students. The focus will be on one of the core subject areas; Math, Reading, Science, or Social Studies. The general education setting serves a very broad range of students and their individual needs.
Co-Teaching
- The co-teacher is in the general education class room with another certified teacher. It is the co-teachers responsibility to share the lesson with the other teacher while monitoring students with Individualized Educational Plans. (IEP)
PE
- The PE class serves all students at TIS. PE includes, but is not limited to a mixture of stretching, running, games, and skill building.
Exploratory
- Exploratory classes provide enrichment to all students in music, art, computers, Spanish, and Character building.
Band
- Band is offered to our 6th grade students as an elective. Not all students participate in band. If you accept a position for band it may require other duties as assigned throughout the day.
Life Skills
- The Life Skills serves our students with a wide range of disabilities. Student needs range from non-verbal and wheel chair bound to high functioning attending core classes with teacher support. They are most often cognitively disabled, autistic, or have other physical/emotional disabilities.
BIC
- The BIC room serves students with emotional disabilities. Students with emotional disabilities have a wide range of needs. Some students stay in a BIC class room all day, while others attend core classes while being monitored by a BIC staff member.
Paraprofessional/teaching assistant
- Paraprofessionals perform a wide range of tasks. Their primary role is to support teachers in the class room, monitoring duty stations and lunches.
