The Stallion Stampede
Janie Stark Elementary Parent Newsletter
January 3, 2021
Dear Stallion Families,
Welcome back and Happy New Year! I hope you all had a restful, safe and relaxing holiday break! We are so excited to welcome our Stallions (in-person and online) back to school on Tuesday, January 5th.
As we prepare to start the Spring semester, I have included reminders on our routines and procedures we have established in an effort to keep our Stallion staff and students safe. If your child is returning for the first time, or has been in-person in the fall, please review these procedures.
Additionally, if you or your student have traveled outside of the country during our holiday break, please contact Nurse Candel at 972-968-3300 or CandelM@CFBISD.edu.
Thank you again for partnering with us safely and educationally! Here's to a wonderful 2021!
To the BEST of days,
Mrs. Putman

Helpful Lunch Reminders for Students
Please be sure your child has lunch or money on their lunch account for Tuesday. You can add money to your child's account by going to www.myschoolbucks.com or sending the money with your child. Parents will not be able to walk in and pay on their child's lunch account, so please pay online or make sure your child has money for lunch.
We have worked hard to socially distanced your child in the cafeteria while also allowing for socialization with classmates. We want to keep our Stallions and staff safe during lunch, so please review the following lunch tips:
- Send lunch items that your child can easily open on their own (see image below for example of easy to open items for lunches).
- If sending pouches and prepackaged chips/crackers, please have your child practice opening these items on their own.
- Please don't forget to send a leak-proof water bottle labeled with your child's name.
- At this time, no visitors are allowed on campus - including lunch time and no lunches may be dropped off by parents. If students forget their lunch, they will be given a cafeteria lunch.
If your child can open everything in their lunch, it means less time waiting for assistance from an adult on duty and more time eating and less germs! (even though we are washing our hands and disinfecting regularly)

Mask/Face Coverings
The state has said all children 10 years old and older must wear a mask. At Stark, we are requiring all students to wear and have a mask (or face covering) to help prevent the spread of COVID. We will encourage and prompt students to wear their masks/face coverings in areas that involve close proximity to others and during hallway transitions.
At times during the day such as bus riding, entering and exiting the building, transitioning in the hallway, we will prompt students to put on their mask. We will say things like, "Okay, time to put on your mask, we are headed to lunch."
We understand that these times are unique and unusual for everyone. Our hope is that the mask is just another layer of protection and prevention.
We also encourage families to think about a lanyard to help keep the mask clean and sanitary. This will help students so the mask is not placed on surfaces or the floor.
