PHS MC Student Materials Due by Friday, May 16th

Students will need to return all media center materials to the media center by Friday, May 16th. If students do not return their books, they will be given Friday School until they have returned or paid for their books/materials.

Civil War Sesquicentennial Exhibit Coming to the Indiana State Library

The Civil War Exhibit will be open May 9th— August 29th, 2014 during regular hours. After 150 years, the American Civil War remains a defining moment in our nation’s history. The Hardship & Hope: The Life of the Hoosier Soldier During the Civil War ( exhibition gives a more personal understanding of the everyday realities from the Hoosier soldier on the battlefield. Unique letters, photographs, and artifacts from the Indiana State Library’s collection, many of which have never before been on display, are now available for the public view.

EdCamp Indy - Sponsored by AISLE

EdCamp Indy will be on Friday, June 13th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at MSD Pike High School/Freshman Center.

EdCamp Indy is a FREE learning opportunity for educators of all types. Though it is sponsored by the Association of Indiana School Library Educators (AISLE), the concept is created by attendees and will include education and technology. You come to EdCamp with questions--and you get answers--by fellow educators. Professional Growth Points are available for four sessions--and there is a fun Smackdown at the end which is rapid-fire tips, tricks, and tools for educators. EdCamp is unique as the presenters are the attendees. Bring and share your knowledge and take away from others. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m.; the event releases for lunch at 11; and the day is over by 3 p.m. Bring your own caffeine, snacks and a device if you have one. There will be computer access on site as well as presentation equipment.

Conference on a Couch - Friday, June 20th

"Conference on a Couch" is on Friday, June 20th. Danville Community Schools invite everyone to come in, relax, have some coffee, and learn from each other. The breakout sessions will include presentation, discussion, and fun activities in a relaxed yet focused setting. Don't forget to 'BYOD' (Bring Your Own Device).

The keynote speaker is Dave Burgess, renowned author of "Teach Like a Pirate."

Making A Splash with Digital Learning Conference

Batesville Community School Corporation is proud to host the Making a Splash with Digital Learning Conference as part of the IDOE Summer of eLearning Conferences. We invite all educators to join us for two days, June 24 and 25, for keynote presentations and concurrent sessions. The keynote speakers include Leslie Fisher and Yancy Unger. A few the topics for concurrent sessions include: iPads in the classroom, Digital Resources, eResources, My Big Campus, Internet Safety, and many other topics for educators. The cost of the two day conference is $25.

Media Center Equipment

Please let Lael DuBois know if you will not be needing certain media center equipment for next year. For example, if you are no longer using an overhead projector or a TV/DVD/VCR cart and it is collecting dust in your room, you can return it to the media center. Please send any equipment with your name and that you no longer need the equipment to the media center by May 16th.

  • 72 classes in the MC lab A112D out of 126 class periods = 57% scheduled (assisted with 13 classes)
  • 1190 students from study hall and sent from classes
  • 3447 students in scheduled classes (MC and MC lab A112D)
  • 4637 total students for April
  • Estimated: 258 students per day
  • Estimated: 37 students per class period
  • 525 student book/material checkouts (335 teacher book/material checkouts)

Lael DuBois

Lael DuBois is a certified School Librarian / Library Media Specialist (grades K-12) who has been the media specialist / school librarian at Plainfield High School for over 7 years. Prior to that, she was the school librarian at Pike High School and Pike Freshman Center.
