DMS Football/Competition Cheer Tryouts - Apr. 1 - 3
Girls need to wear black shorts and a plain white shirt to tryouts on Friday.
On the DMS website under "Competition Cheer" you can find the handbook and all of the forms that need to be filled out. The due date for the forms is Monday, March 30, 2015.

Thursday, April 2
NJHS meeting Thursday at 7:15 in the media center. If you have not paid due yet, you must do so. Thursday is the last day to sign up to order a t-shirt. You may do so during the week on Ms. Dowling’s door (room 527) or at the meeting. $12.95 will be due when they are distributed. Don’t forget to be completing your four service hours. The service hour forms will be due May 7th.

DMS Junior Student to Student Application Due April 3
Current 7th graders: If you are interested in helping us support our new students as they transition in to DMS, then pick up an application for DMS junior Student to Student (jS2S). Applications are available in the front office or from Mrs. Baragona or Mrs. Grayson.
Applications are due April 3, 2015, by 3:30 pm.

- 4 year plans are due to Mrs. Moody. All plans must be signed by student and parent
- 9th grade course request forms and AP permission forms (if applicable) due to Mrs. Moody. All request forms must be signed by a parent.
April 1st through 3rd - Registration Info
- Rising 9th graders will enter course requests in iNow from DMS.
- Students must have signed request forms and 4 yr plans to be able to register for classes.
- Request are completed at DMS via INOW and not available via the Home Portal.

BJHS Yearbook Application for 2016
Any Discovery 8th grader who is interested in being on the 2015-2016 Bob Jones yearbook (The Patriot) staff should download an application from the BJHS web site and follow the instructions carefully.

· Applications are due by 4 PM on Friday, April 10. NO LATE APPLICATIONS will be accepted!
· Students must have at least a “B” average in English in order to be considered for the yearbook staff.

WAY TO GO PANTHERS
Destination Imagination Teams Score BIG At North Regional T'ment
On Saturday, March 14, Discovery hosted the North Regional Tournament for Destination Imagination (the world’s largest creative problem-solving program for students) – it was a great day!!!
Our Discovery DI teams represented us well and did a great job presenting their challenge solutions. DI is something that is hard to explain unless you see the teams “in action,” but suffice it to say, the students’ academic strengths, communication abilities, confidence, and teamwork – skills that are honed every day in DMS classrooms!
All three of the DMS DI teams will be advancing to the state tournament at UAH on April 18! Challenge results and teams are listed below. Please congratulate these creative students on their accomplishment!

Great Job at State Assessment Tuesday, March 17
Mixed Choir II, II, II with a VERY High II in sight-reading. Excellent across the board. (A HUGE improvement in last year’s scores singing 4 part…the most difficult middle school music of the entire 2 day festival.
Ladies’ Choir I, I, I with a I in sight-reading. Highest score of Superior across the board.
So proud of their work, performance and behavior.

Become a member of the Discovery Middle School program!!
The Discovery Middle School Band Program offers a variety of programs to suit the needs of the students and the community.
Students are encouraged to come and try some of the instruments to find the right instrument to ensure their success.

DMS Library Needs Volunteers for Spring Book Fair
The DMS Library will be hosting its annual Spring Scholastic Book Fair April 27 – May 1, 2015. There will be LOTS of new and exciting books available for all of your summer reading wants and needs!!! Please make plans to come by and check it out!
