SPELLING
*You can also find their words in their planner written to the side each week.*
Principle: When a word ends in a y with a consonant before it, you drop the y, add an i, then add your suffix that starts with a vowel such as ed, es, est.
Spelling Words: babies, bodies, ladies, studied, happiest
Word Wall Words: they'd, that'll, isn't, when's, should've
Click on the link below for a menu of activities you can do at home with spelling words. Make sure that they aren’t just memorizing words. They also need to think of other words that have the same pattern or rule. They will be given words on the test they have not seen before but follow the same pattern.
*For each activity done at home that is turned in to your reading teacher, you will get one star on your chart. :)
This week in....
Math: I can explain the connection between human capital/labor and income.
I can describe the relationship between the availability or scarcity of resources and how that impacts cost.
I can identify the costs and benefits of planned and unplanned spending decisions.
I can explain that credit is used when wants or needs exceed the ability to pay and that it is the borrower's responsibility to pay it back to the lender, usually with interest.
I can list reasons to save and explain the benefit of a savings plan, including for college.
I can identify decisions involving income, spending, saving, credit, and charitable giving.
Reading: I can explain how various design techniques used in media can influence the message. I can locate facts, and support answers with evidence from the text.
English: I can write a persuasive essay.
Social Studies: I can determine the difference and effects of shortages and surpluses.
Science: I can observe, measure, record, and compare day-to-day weather changes in different locations at the same time that include air temperature, wind direction, and precipitation.
