Where the Adventure Begins...
HAPPY FRIDAY!!
Happy Friday, ECS Families! We are super excited to celebrate Read Across America next week and Dr. Seuss' birthday!!! Check out info from your child's teacher for specials dress up days next week! Also, join us in committing to read to your child every day next week for at least 20 minutes. This is a wonderful and important habit to establish. It also benefits both your relationship with their child and helps them become better readers!
I also wanted to let you all know that Frisco ISD Libraries is hosting a new event for the FISD community called Librarypalooza on Saturday, February 23rd from 9am-12pm. The event is FREE! We would love for you to attend and your own children/grandchildren as well. For a lineup of authors, illustrators, and other fun things happening at Librarypalooza 2019, check out our website – https://bit.ly/FISDlibrarypalooza
Recently, in Mrs. Iron's 3 year old PPCD class her students were learning about hibernation! Check out the picture below of one of her student's writing about what they learned. Mrs. Irons also had students use props such as stuffed animals, puppets, and a 'cave' to manipulate as they described what they learned about hibernation!
We have had such an amazing week of learning and cannot wait to see what's in store next week!

The Fun Run is Coming!!
Parents mark your calendar for March 5th, at 5:30 p.m., for the annual ECS Family Fun Run. This year we are giving a whole new meaning to the word “Fun”. You and your family are invited to dress up however you would like to for the run. Just make sure your costume is safe for running or walking in a large group. We will have a course set up around the perimeter of the ECS campus. You may choose to run/walk around the course as many times as you would like. Twice around the course is equal to one mile.
That evening we will have health and fitness booths set up in the cafeteria that you may enjoy before and after the run. The Frisco Fire Department Clowns will also be here. We will start signing everyone in at 5:15 so that we may start the run as close to 5:30 as possible. Just come to the table by the front doors the day of the race and we will sign you in and give your child a runner’s bib. Water will be available along the course. All family members are welcome to participate and strollers are welcome. You are responsible for watching your child and keeping them with you at all times. Your child will receive an award at the end and photo booths will be available.
We are also asking families to log any distance you walk or run as a family before or during our Fun Run. You may log your miles on the mileage log that was sent home in your child’s folder. These miles will go towards to our campus goal of walking or running enough miles to virtually get Mr. Jones to Boston by April 5th as he runs the Boston Marathon for his first time!
We look forward to seeing you at our Fun Run, March 5th!
Got a Sickie?!
If your child is not well- please keep them home.
Please be specific when reporting your child’s absence. Don’t say sick or ill, please give details such as : fever, Flu, cough and cold, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.
It makes it so much easier to know when we need to deep clean classrooms when parents give details regarding absences.

The Counselor Corner
I sent my kids on a trip last weekend. I had a “proud mommy moment” when I walked in and saw my son had packed each daily outfit in individual plastic storage bags. We’ve been doing this with the kids since they were old enough to pick out their own clothes. There’s no arguing about what to wear and nothing gets lost. It made trips hassle free and the bags served as storage for dirty clothes, too. Since spring break is around the corner, here are a few more tips on traveling with kids:
· Remember to pack medicine
· Tag them---write your phone number on the inside of their jacket
· Pack a variety of snacks
· Keep hands busy with puppets, books, Legos, and digital apps
· Make frequent restroom breaks
· Prepare a schedule with scheduled down time
· Pack your kids’ outfits in storage bags before placing them in luggage---tops, bottoms, and socks –so your child can dress independently
Planning ahead will help you enjoy more of your vacation time. There are a lot of ideas on Pinterest and you can Google anything to make your time off more comfortable and fun.
